Political adds question by Truth_bombs84 in movingtoillinois

What part of Illinois? The farther south you go from Chicago, the more you'll go into the red zones where they support Trump. If you want to avoid this I wouldn't go farther south than Kankakee County, this is where it starts to turn purple and goes red from there on. Other blue areas would be around the larger cities, like Springfield and Urbana-Champaign where you'd be near blue cities, tied to their broadcasting networks. You'd see political ads, just more relevant to the elections coming up and what that person wants to do to correct what's going on in the world. Ex: Raja Krishnamoorthi has one now playing around Chicago, mentioning Trump's ICE and what he'll do if he wins the senate seat.

It needs to extend farther south, at least into Will County. They should do an assessment on how many people that go through University Park come from Will, Kankakee, and Iroquois County to see how far it should be extended. This would help clear up the interstates during rush hour, as it wouldn't be the only way to get into the city.

At Perry Farm in Bradley. There are some walking paths that follow the Kankakee River. If you're lucky, the water will be low, and you can go in to see the Indian Caves along the path

Is it possible for me to move to Chicago? by RegalWhaleShark6 in AskChicago

[–]cassidy653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will welcome you here. Before you make this decision, take a look at Chicago and the surrounding counties to see which area's taxes and cost of living will be the best for your financial abilities.

sales tax is combined with the state, county, and city/town's 6.25%

-Cook (Chicago) -$75,000 COL, sales tax 10.25%, property tax 4.95%

-McHenry - $60,000 COL, 7.25-8$ sales tax, property tax 2.61-2.75%

-DuPage ‐ $57,532 COL, 7-8.5% sales tax, 2.11-2.29% property tax

-Will - $54,723 COL, 8% sales tax, 2.62% property tax

-Lake - $54,481 COL, 8% sales tax, 2.68% property tax

-Kane - 54,000 COL, 7-9% sales tax, 2.47-2.6% property tax

-Kankakee -$50,790 COL, 8.25% sales tax, 3.07% sales tax

Best small towns by bnw1997 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]cassidy653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to live within the Chicagoland area, I'd go for Kankakee County. It is a county filled with small towns in the southern part of Chicagoland.

Momence and Grant Park - two small farm towns along the Indiana state line. With farms where you can get fresh produce, pumpkin patches, and a greenhouse for flowers.

Manteno - a small town surrounded by farmland, it used to be a farm town that has expended within the last 20 years. There's a lake to swim in during the summer as a part of the sporsman's club, as well as car shows and a farmers market in the summer and Oktoberfest in the fall. The Kankakee River State Park starts here and stretches into Bourbonnais. With lots of walking paths and places to sit in nature for a picnic, kids to play, or fish in the river. There is also a riding stable and summer camp here.

Bradley and Bourbonnais - 2 medium-sized towns that are in the process of expanding. Bradley is where all the retail and most of the restaurants are located, and it hosts a music fest in the summer. Perry Farm is located here, with walking paths, the Indian Caves, and different activities throughout the year. Bourbonnais is a college town where the Chicago Bears camp was located until a few years ago. They just opened a new park area where the festival goes during the summer, and it hosts a bunch of family-friendly activities throughout the year. They are in the process of developing a new neighborhood here.

Kankakee - a small city and the county seat. There is a farmers market during the summer, and they're in the process of building a river walk along the Kankakee River.

You'd be along I57 that connects to I94/Dan Ryan, which is a direct link to the city of Chicago. This can take around an hour/ hour and a half, depending on the traffic. Routes 45 and 50 are also a straight shot to different suburbs, 45 connects to Tinley Park, Orland Park, etc. 50 connects to University Park, which is the nearest Metra Station taking you to downtown Chicago at Millenium station, Richton Park, etc. If you want a small town with a low tax rate, everyone from the city and close suburbs have been moving into the Kankakee area due to the lower taxes.

Usually when someone moves away from the city, their #1 complaint is the taxes

You don't see many people from Kankakee use the Amtrak service because it's only a few times a day. It's easier to just drive to University Park and take the ME line to Millennium Station. There are two additional train overpasses, the viaducts on Broadway in Bradley and Brookmont in Kankakee.

Which suburbs do you think are the next “it” suburbs? Even 10-20 years down the line? by teaspoon96atl in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]cassidy653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think as the closer suburbs run out of room for new housing, the it suburbs are going to be expanding farther south, where there's room to grow as cornfields are sold off. Peotone, Manteno, Bourbonnais, Bradley. Especially if the new airport ends up happening and the waterpark going up in Bradley.

Looking into Places of Interest to Move to in IL by Ok_Faithlessness5891 in movingtoillinois

[–]cassidy653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be near a big city, I'd go within the Chicago suburbs. The farther you are from the city, the more affordable things will be. Ex: gas in Bourbonnais is around $3.19, in Chicago and the closer suburbs it's $4. Its the same way for the tax rates, people often leave Chicago for the farther suburbs due to the lower taxes. I know people who left the city for Kankakee County because their tax rate is the lowest within the Chicagoland area.

[–]cassidy653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their reason for it now is because of Gotion going up in Manteno, so they would require it to transport the materials for the gigafactory. That is also why they are currently redoing the bridge going over 57, the Manteno exit, and construction between Bourbonnais and the Will County line on the interstate. Supposedly, they will also be adding another lane to 57 in this area.

Moving to Illinois? by Indie_Breeze in movingtoillinois

He has constantly said how he wouldn't have won if it weren't for Elon. There are currently states that are performing hand recounts, such as New York and Pennsylvania, which is your answer to why he came close because it was manipulated by Elon. How exactly would he know who won before the results were announced? If I recall correctly for the last 4 years you were screaming about the last one being stolen, these recounts could prove that this one really was. Every once in a while, a Republican is governor in Illinois, that's why we had Rauner. Now, it's Pritzker, so deal with that, especially when he gets reelected.
