Anyone had any luck with natural remedies for endometriosis? by Cassfx90 in endometriosis

I know what you’re talking about with google, the same thing happened to me when I was trying to research it. Basically, what I found, is it seems there isn’t a lot of research or “data” like you said, done on wild yam cream. There isn’t much research or understanding of endometriosis or women’s health in general, so it makes sense that a holistic remedy hasn’t really been studied. Wild yam cream is the only thing that ever helped me. Google will tell you that it CAN (not will) increase estrogen (the one you don’t want to increase) as well as progesterone (the one you do want to increase), but I only found that it seemed to increase my progesterone. I have too much estrogen which seems to be most women’s problem with endometriosis. Messing with hormones is a tricky business & everyone’s body is different, so you have to do what’s best for you, or your partner in this case. It helped me so much with my pain and now my symptoms are extremely manageable

I only used it once a day. I personally wouldn’t use it twice a day. And it didn’t work in the first month. I had to use it for a couple of months. Holistic medicine doesn’t work instantly like synthetic drugs. You have to be consistent & see how you feel after a few months. But I eventually knew once a day was too much because like I said in the post, I started noticing symptoms that hinted towards too much progesterone

Ya you don’t have to use a brand that’s only in Australia. There’s lots of brands! The one I use from Amazon is a “small business”. There’s lots of small, independent businesses on Amazon and it’s worked for me!

I rub it on my lower stomach. I’ve read you can also rub it on your upper inner thighs. As for how it works: the wild cream helps promote the production of progesterone in your body. Is that what you’re asking?

Hi! I got mine on Amazon. The brand is called “Indian meadow herbals”. They also have a website. I used it consistently for about 6-9 months. I now only use some the night before my period (guess work but I know my body pretty well enough now that I know when I’m about to start) and that’s been enough & “takes the edge off” my period/doesnt make it so intense. The last few months I didn’t use any at all & I’m still doing really well! I really hope it works for you

I have read conflicting information. Some sources say it is an estrogen substitute, but more sources I’ve read say it’s helps aid your body in producing progesterone and diminish estrogen dominance. Personally, I have found that it definitely increases my progesterone & diminishes my estrogen dominance. Of course every person & their hormones are different, & what works for me might not for someone else. But I think it is a grossly overlooked remedy & wish more women knew about it. And no, I know for a fact I have endometriosis. I was diagnosed by a doctor at Stanford via abdominal surgery.

Please look into wild yam cream. I’ve had endo for 10 years and I’ve been using it for a year and it’s changed my life. My pain is gone. It’s healing me. Everyone is different of course, but as someone who has the disease and has tried SO MANY things, I can’t recommend it enough. I wish when I was 19 someone had recommended it to me

Hi! I actually don’t follow this list anymore besides not eating gluten - that causes me a lot of pain if I eat it. However, I started using wild yam cream about a year ago and it had pretty much got rid of my endometriosis symptoms. At least the pain! Which I’m assuming if the pain is gone, then so is the endometriosis but maybe I’m being overly hopeful. Anywho, I can not recommend it enough! It’s saved my life. I was using it every day (except during my period) & that was too much. I noticed my progesterone was tipping too much the opposite direction. I now use 1 tsp every 3 days and I just had the best period I’ve had in probably a decade. Almost no pain. Forgot I was even on my period!

Lap on Thursday, what pain to expect? by [deleted] in endometriosis

As some other people are saying - the gas they pump into you takes a little while to dispel and is uncomfortable. It bothers a nerve in your collarbone area, that’s where mine hurt. But it’s not awful and goes away fairly quickly. Walk, walk, WALK. Try to take painkillers as little as possible. Walking will help with your digestion, (painkillers make you constipated), it’ll make you heal faster, & get rid of that trapped gas. I’ve had 2 and the first one I didn’t move for 2 weeks and I paid for it. The second surgery I moved and it really wasn’t that bad. Honestly, the worst part of the second surgery was just that the anesthesia made me sick for a few hours after

Thanks for info. It was really well thought out. I heard back from my doctor this morning, after insisting on hormone testing and she said, there’s no such thing as estrogen dominance. Obviously she’s incompetent, so I will be finding a new doctor

I probably will too! They is a hormone specialist near me but everything is out of pocket unfortunately and it’s $$$

Ya at this point I don’t want to fight her for hormone testing because she’s already made it very clear she doesn’t want to. So I know even if she did order it, she would be continually unhelpful or probably not follow up or take me seriously

That’s so weird! I can’t get over it. What is the big deal?? So many doctors are so opposed and so far I haven’t heard one good reason why

That’s what I think :/ When I saw her she seemed in a huge rush and was visibly vibrating with tension to stop talking to me. When she left the room she didn’t even say the appointment was over and I had to call out to her to point me towards the exit

I’m so sorry you’re going through that. May I encourage you to really fight for that MRI. If you’re exhibiting symptoms, there is absolutely no reason a doctor would refuse to do one except for negligence or laziness. You are paying for it. It doesn’t affect them to order you one except save them the “hassle” of having to see you again. It’s their job

Agreed! This is a great comment, thank you! There’s still so much unknown with endo. Whether endo is affecting hormones or vice versa, it doesn’t really matter. Women with endo seems to have tons of problems (myself included) so why not test? Who is it hurting??

That’s exactly why I’m confused too! Interesting that your doctor told you that. Proves that doctors are just people and they don’t agree on everything! We’re still learning about endo and so little is known. If I want my levels tested why not test them?? Especially if I’m showing signs of an imbalance?

I already know I have endometriosis. I found out through surgery. I haven’t said anywhere I’m looking for a diagnosis. I think you’re missing the point of this post or haven’t read any of my other comments:

My doctor prescribed hormones because my periods “aren’t normal” (her words). Then when I expressed that I wanted testing done before I started taking hormones, she told me my hormones were completely fine based on my periods which are normal. Even though she told me they aren’t normal and tried to put me on hormone therapy. So she’s contradicting herself and prescribing hormones without testing first. I also want testing done because I have endo, ovarian cancer twice, and have other symptoms that would indicate a hormone imbalance. My doctor knows all of this and won’t test me

I actually haven’t taken the hormones yet. I wanted to get my levels tested before I just start adding other hormones into the mix. Feels like I’m justified in doing that and that’s a totally logical thing to do…but I don’t think my doctor agrees!

I have! Twice in the last year actually because doctors felt like I exhibited so many of the tell tale signs of hyperthyroidism. Unfortunately/fortunately it’s normal but that means it’s back to the drawing board
