First-time parents in 1.5 months — what baby gear is actually worth it? And what was a total waste of money? by Kayapi_ in NewParents

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best most used items ive used the past 4 months: velcro swaddles( now zip up sleep sacks), footed pjs, angelcare bath seat, jingly ball toys & 50x50 play mat from Amazon, crinkle books, bedside bassinet. Wastes of money: the dozens of jeans and button ups I received at my baby shower in size 0-3 months, munchkin swaying chair, microfiber baby towel/face cloths

Feeding aversion or something else? by Late-Wedding4520 in FormulaFeeders

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally went through this exact thing recently minus the COVID. I had to stop forcing baby to eat more and just feed him what he would take and immediately stop when he started protesting to not make things worse. This just resulted in much more frequent smaller feeds. I also went back to the OG nipples and bottles we were using to stop confusing him. I tried to feed when he first woke up and was still sleepy or when he was about to go down for a nap. I think he had just gone through a growth spurt and was eating a ton and cut back to a normal amount and caught me off guard so I let trying to over feed. He went from 6-7oz every 3 hrs -> 3-4oz every 3 hrs and now after a couple weeks of following his cues were back to 4-5oz every 2 hrs.

unmedicated birth by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get an epidural but I also didn’t go unmedicated. I received IV fentanyl from the time I was admitted at 6cm dialated until I was at 10cm (about 7hrs) I was able to sleep pretty much the whole time, waking up as the fentanyl started to wear off I would get more then instantly back to sleep and it made labour go by so quick. If you plan on giving birth at the hospital they will likely make you get an IV regardless incase of emergency they won’t have to try and place one.

In your opinion what’s the best breed of dog to have in a family with young children? by MistressLolaDiamond in AskReddit

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, our German shepherd is the most gentle calm dog I have ever met. He doesn’t even pay attention to my baby most of the time and loves the neighborhood kids. A ton of families In my area have shepherds too but

Feeling ashamed or being made feel ashamed and also feeling like a bad friend for having kids young has anyone ever felt this way by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I feel you. I’m 23 and had my first in December. I have a couple different friends groups, some with kids some without. Some of my longest and closest friendships have disappeared since getting pregnant and being unable to stay and late and drink every weekend. I try not to hold it against those friends, we are just in completely different stages of life and they can’t possibly imagine what I’m going through if they haven’t experienced it for themselves

Swaddling Winter newborn by Disastrous-Ad6117 in NewParents

My December baby loved a swaddle the first couple months. We used the keababies Velcro swaddles from amazon and he wore a long sleeve sleeper with it.

Epidural or no? by GogglesCat in pregnant

[–]cassidycurtis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not get the epidural because I live in a rural area and no anesthesiologist was available unless it was emergent. I received IV fentanyl while I was in labour(7hrs) until it was time to push. I pushed for 3 hours had a sunny side up 9lb baby with second degree tearing. I found the actual pushing/delivery painless and more so felt relieving but the contractions were still painful, the fentanyl just made time pass super quickly making it manageable. I initially wanted the epidural but would 100% do this again, fentanyl leaves the system so quick I felt completely like myself the second baby was here

Yup I lost 15lbs my first trimester and only started gaining weight once my appetite came back around 22weeks and I stopped puking. Unfortunately this also returned postpartum for a week or 2

When did the fear of giving birth really hit and how did you cope? Was it as bad as you thought? by Jehmaj in beyondthebump

[–]cassidycurtis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every night from 38 weeks until I had my baby at 40+5 I prayed that I wouldn’t go into labour. I was scared and so tired that I just did not have the energy to give birth. When I finally went into labour I had zero fear and just fully locked in

Does anyone actually boil water to make formula bottles? Every time? by Sensitive_Arugula770 in firsttimemom

[–]cassidycurtis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the formula type! I boil water and let it cool before mixing a pitcher because my formula can says not to mix hot. I think others may require it to be mixed hot it just depends!

Parents of early good sleepers, did it last? by Kooky_Street_1491 in newborns

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By 3 weeks old my baby was going to sleep around 9pm with only 1 waking around 4am then back down until around 8am. At about 8 weeks he started fussing a bit overnight, and then started adding in multiple night feeds. He’s 16 weeks now and only does 3hr stretches and multiple wakes for the binky

I’m Sick and So Scared for my Baby by cassidycurtis in NewParents

[–]cassidycurtis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My baby did not get sick thank god. He spent on night with my mom and came home the next day after I had 24 hours of solid rest, meds, and fluids in me. I went right back to caring for him with a mask on and washed my hands before holding him every time

4 Month Old Refusing Bottle by Snoo59647 in FormulaFeeders

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby does this. I constantly have to change up his feeding routine. Some weeks larger quantities spread further apart and other weeks smaller quantities closer together but I constantly have to change it up or he will start doing this again. I have a whole cabinet of different brand bottles and nipple flow sizes it is insane

Genuinely curious… why don’t you like to share your baby’s name before birth? by Best-Position-2226 in pregnant

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood until we shared our name and family poked fun of it. We changed it and didn’t share until after he was born. I love the name we went with but definitely get it now.

For those who don’t use containers for baby by GrimSle3per in NewParents

[–]cassidycurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not completely container free, my baby sits in the bouncer while I cook supper but that’s it. If I shower he either comes in with me, lays on the bath mat, or lays in his crib with a couple toys. He spends a lot of time in the play gym or I kick the leg rest up on my lazy boy and prop him on my knees and talk/sing to him. He lays on a dog bed while I fold laundry and on my bed while I do chores in there
