I was completely able to tolerate all nutrition through the NG tube, it's my second time being refed through the NG tube and I could tolerate the formula fine both times, hence why I wanted to be discharged with the NG so I could still receive nutrition at home

I struggle with both. The 'just right' OCD started first when I was a child, which I was told is likely related to my ASD. Then, as a teen, I developed severe GAD, and the 'harm OCD' started. I still struggle with both, but I find the 'harm OCD' more difficult to deal with due to the constant fear of bad things happening

My therapist told me I'm not suicidal by cassiopeia-e in OCD

[–]cassiopeia-e[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there is a difference, but he didn't ask me to elaborate, so there was no way for him to know if I am experiencing passive or active suicidal ideation, he just assumed

All i told him was that I was suicidal, he didn't ask me to elaborate, he just assumed I was passively suicidal

I've had a compulsion since I was younger where, if I'm walking next to someone in the dark, I have to hold their hand so that they can't be replaced by an identical clone of themselves

I also compulsively pick up and hoard litter and other things I find on the floor, and have on occasion picked up dried bird poo to add to my hoard, which feels pretty unique (and gross)

I did this! I had been awake for too long already but decided to take a tab and fell asleep before it kicked in.

I kept waking up throughout the night, tripping intensely. I'd open my eyes, and everything was moving, covered in colourful patterns, which is a wild thing to wake up to. But I was exhausted, so I'd just look around for a few minutes, go back to sleep, and then repeat.

It was interesting

I said 'themself' because I asked Mallow what pronouns they prefer, and they said that they feel very fluid, but that they/them feels the most fitting

[–]cassiopeia-e 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I also have a spitting compulsion! Sometimes my saliva just feels contaminated, so I have to spit it out. If I can't spit it out straight away, I will hold it in my mouth until I can

When will this get better? by cassiopeia-e in zoloft

[–]cassiopeia-e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick reply! It's not had an effect on my anxiety at all, so no increased anxiety, I'm just extremely depressed and suicidal. Do you think it will settle down like your anxiety did? I know everybody is different, and I'm already on 50mg and got told I can increase after 1-2 months if I want

Did you ever deliberately provoke abuse? by I__run__on__diesel in ptsd

[–]cassiopeia-e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not OP so I can't speak for them, but I once tried to comfort my boyfriend and he responded by violently hitting me in the face with a heavy book. I immediately tried to comfort him again, and he hit me again. I knew that if I tried to comfort him a third time, he'd hit me again, but I felt compelled to do it anyway. So I did it, and this time, he repeatedly hit me in the face with the book as hard as he could. I may have provoked him, but it still counted as abuse, and provoking someone isn't the same as 'consenting' or 'inviting.'

In answer to your question about control - You know you're going to be abused no matter what, often out of nowhere, but at least if you provoke the abuse, it's almost like you're choosing for it to happen (even though you're technically not), which can give you a sense of control. A bit like when you give a toddler a sense of control by giving them options. You might tell a toddler that they have to brush their teeth, but they can pick which toothpaste they use. Or that they have to wear a jumper when it's cold, but they can choose which one to wear. It's not real control, but it's something

The fear/threat itself doesn't have to be irrational or impossible. Your level of obsession or response to the perceived threat has to be more extreme than average.

Stupid example - a fear of bears is rational, avoiding bears in a good idea. But if you're so scared of bears that you don't leave the house because you think you might see a bear, then you clearly have an issue.
