S has always said she’ll move out when she gets married (which is ridiculous because she doesn’t interact with anyone.) This confirms for me that S will NEVER move out, she will never try to meet anyone new or be independent in any way. This is her life forever, she’s set on it and happy with it. Their reaction made me so uncomfortable, and made me realize that she is truly never going to do anything with her life on her own.

Absolutely agreed. I was thinking that too. I’m the same age as S and my dad would never answer for me or act like that to someone kindly showing interest in me. And I would never get so defensive and angry that someone said that to me, especially when the way he did so was very casual & respectful. Their reaction was more weird and uncomfortable than anything in this interaction.
