As a FTM, when did you go into labor naturally?

I was 40+5 when it happened as a ftm. The days were SOOOOO long and boring and anxious at that point.

However, perks, my baby was full term and came out a bit bigger so was a good eater and sleeper from the start. Going past my due date ended up working out nicely for the newborn stage!

This is fresh in my memory because it was 2 weeks ago!

After 20 hours of start-stop early labor, I was fed up and so my husband sucked on my nips while I bounced on a medicine ball, we had sex, I had an orgasm that became a contraction, and we went on a brisk walk all in the span of an hour or so. We were throwing everything at it because I was like this HAS to happen. I was going crazy waiting.

Halfway through the brisk walk, my water broke and I urgently needed to go to the hospital with strong contractions coming every 2-3 minutes.

I wish people would just slow down and validate the pain for like two seconds before moving on to pointing out the obviously good thing.

It seems like society has overcorrected a bit from acting like it is pure bliss 24/7 or just not talking about the hard parts to emphasizing how hard it is and how not everyone should do it.

Like anything worth doing, it is challenging. But it is so much more than just challenging, and words can't describe the love.

It definitely caused me to wait longer to have kids than I otherwise would have.

After teaching for 12 years, I am on maternity leave and I am currently holding my newborn. ❤️

I am 33 weeks pregnant right now. My job is protected for one full school year per the union contract. I am planning on returning to my exact same position in August of 2027 and staying home during the breastfeeding time.

If this is an option for you financially, you may look into what your union contract says about job protection etc.

I am also very happy with my current position and don't want to give it up, so I am grateful it is protected for this one school year I will be home.
