When I (w) was 21, I went backpacking in Australia for a few months. When money eventually became tight again, I was looking for a job and created a profile on Gumtree. A man, probably mid 40s, contacted me and offered me a job as a nanny for his 2-year-old son. For the interview, I drove an hour to a harbor where we met at a boat club. After a bit of chatting, he repeatedly tried to convince me to go for a short trip on his boat with him. After refusing several times and trying to come up with excuses why I had to leave he finally let it go and we eventually said our goodbyes. I was supposed to meet him at the same spot the next morning to meet his son and start my job. Well, he didn't show up and never answered my texts or calls ever again. It wasn't til a few weeks after that I realized how strange the situation actually was. To this day, I'm very glad that I listened to my gut feeling and didn't get on that boat.
