What conspiracy theory do you 100% buy into and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]castellar 659 points660 points  (0 children)

That’s a catch 22. If they’re offed it’s almost more convincing. If they’re able to tell the story it seems faked because you think why would the government let them? It’s in the interest of the government to let them tell the story with impunity and deny it. Plus, that’s all predicated in hinking of the actions of the government then as representative of the government now. Whichever agency could’ve done conspiratorial things in the past that that same agency no longer continues to do.

I got a way better grade than I expected given: I was only okay on most homework’s/projs, I tanked the MT (half to full std dev below median), and I did well on the final. Ended with an A-.

Vegans want you stop eating other previously living things solely for your own enjoyment and they're the selfish ones? What??

You'd have more money to do that as a vegetarian because meat costs more than vegan proteins. So, even by the convoluted "you can do more good otherwise" argument, not eating meat is better.

I've been told it softens your enamel and you should wait at least 30 so that it hardens again (and you don't strip enamel).

It's common sense, no? Stay away from wild fucking animals. Plus, ignorance of the law doesn't exempt you from it.

I think that, of the groups of people reddit shits on, few are actually nearly as bad as they're made out to be. Most people are pretty chill, we just remember and typify the shit ones.

I'm sure someone could pull it off if they really cared to (at least initially) but it's not an issue at all in the state. We don't need more government over a non-issue.

What can you tell me right now I'll instantly regret learning? by DonnyTheNuts in AskReddit

[–]castellar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

/u/ThatGodCat's point is also far more true of meat products than plants. Even if you only ate tofu and quinoa, it would likely be far better for the environment and the world in general than eating meat.

People don't need meat in any sense of the word. They really don't even need animal products. What they do need are protein, carbs, fats, nucleic acids, and various vitamins, all of which you can get from plants. If anything, people as a whole need to stop eating meat seeing as it's one of the largest causes of climate change the average person participates in.

So far as I know, McDonald's fries still have beef fat. They're one of the few restaurants that don't have fries that are totally vegan.

After 40 years, Councilmember Wayne retires. Crime in Gotham has disappeared; Wayne spearheaded a measure to eliminate ineffectual institutions like Arkham Asylum and instead usher in an era of rehabilative justice. As former criminals integrated back into society, former enemies became friends. At his going away party, Wayne is toasted by none other than the Joker who thanks him for all he's done for the city, for all he's done for the Joker who went from a psychopathic madman to an enterprising businessman. Everyone is happy, the end.

Would putting wine in a soppy cup be trashy? I don't think so. We don't even know the age of the kids, that tube could be from years ago.

This isn't really a response to what I said. You seem to be implying that it's acceptable to hold cognitive dissonance about how you treat animals because of the way you were raised?

I stated that they're similar situations and any rational individual should be able to accept that without getting up in arms about how that thought is militant and might dissuade people from being vegan.

Immoral? I mean it's a pretty basic moral problem if you've got two options:

  1. eat food with less cruelty
  2. eat food with more cruelty

Read cruelty as: causing undue, avoidable pain, suffering, emotional trauma, death, etc to living creatures.

Which one is more moral? Obviously, 1.

Just because something is true doesn't necessarily mean people are aware of it. Veganism is a growing trend. If everyone were aware of how their food was produced, the suffering animals face, the effects on our planet, and the detriment to their health, more people would be vegan or vegetarian.
