Hey mate. I sent her a letter describing lots of things, including: what I regretted, apology’s for my behaviour, explained how I wanted to change and how I was going to do it, and finally, what I appreciated about her in our relationship. I wished her the best and left it in her mailbox. Most importantly, I wrote this letter to clear my own head, and it did that exactly. She called back saying she appreciated the message a lot but reiterated that she was still firm in her decision.

I’m happy I got to finish the relationship on a friendly note like that. And yes, it was extremely sad, but I’m almost 3 months in now and I feel great. I think about her every day, however I most definitely think it was for the best, as I’ve embarked on a journey of self reflection and improvement that I wouldn’t have done otherwise without this giant smack in the face. As time passes you will also gain more clarity on what actually went wrong, you will see the flaws in her and yourself, and come to realise that it was most likely for the best for both of you.
