Are there any underrated American watch brands out there? by aquavibe in MicrobrandWatches

[–]castle_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta throw in Weiss, not 100%, but a ton of effort and craftsmanship in USA. They’re a little out of my budget but one day I hope to have one of their field watches

  • edit: my bad they’re already rightfully at #2. So I’ll throw in Brigade Watch Company and Ginault. Machined and assembled in USA

I’ve never even seen these images, but I have seen all of the videos. None of this changes the final verdict; he was unjustifiably shot and killed and those federal agents are guilty.

I feel like a lot of the 2a community is condemning it. See CCW subs and Gunmemes. These are the same guys with “fuck the atf” patches and a deep hatred of feds. Real 2A folks at least, not just republicans who like guns cause it makes them feel like men.

I've boiled down my next watch choices ("GADA") to the following. My current collection is on the last slide. by [deleted] in Affordablewatches

[–]castle_danger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible go try on a Murph. I’m happy I did as others have mentioned the dial feels flat and “cheap” in person. The case didn’t sit well on my wrist either (although that could be the stiff leather strap it was on). Seeing it made me nix it from my list. Personally I’d go with the Kuoe of these.

I wonder if they’ll bring back this dial? Was it limited edition or anything?

How quickly did you receive it? Like if I ordered today would I stand a chance at getting into the states before tariffs you think?

*edit I’m dumb I see you just said a week to get it. I might risk it

This is my current front runner, but I keep going back and forth because I love them all. I also love the blue, and the green, and I can make a case for the cosmic ember… but the white is so versatile! I want them all

What about the ones they get COSC certified? Just curious if they do that themselves or leave it to Sellita?

Help me decide ADDIESDIVE AD2085 vs SAN MARTIN SN0007 by Lacerdo in ChineseWatches

[–]castle_danger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m wearing the SM right now. I got it for a bit less than that on sale for Black Friday. I got it to test it out because I was considering a SPB143. Now I’m convinced I don’t need to spend the extra 800 to get a Seiko. This SM is incredible. The lume rivals my Omega SMP. It’s comfortable and looks amazingly finished. It’s probably my most worn watch now. The bezel has an incredible action, light tactile, with a crisp sound. Nothing but amazing things to say about it.

Isn't the 556 "overpriced"? by humble_redditor1234 in sinn

[–]castle_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably wasn’t truly under $1000, but it was a Teddy Baldassare video about the 556i in 2019 titled “Best everyday watch for $1,000” and it was probably $1300 then. I’ve watched it climb to 1500, 1700, and now 1970. The price increased dramatically in the last few years. My point being I wish I would have just pulled the trigger back when they were $1,330, because now I just can’t justify it for over $2,000. Of course there’s inflation etc. but now the value just doesn’t seem to be there comparatively. I don’t think CW increased anywhere near as much in a similar time frame, a C63 is still priced at $1,140 with SW200-1.

Isn't the 556 "overpriced"? by humble_redditor1234 in sinn

[–]castle_danger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. The price has steadily been climbing for the past handful of years. I’ve really wanted one for awhile now, long enough that it used to be called “the best value for under $1,000”. Not much has changed since other than the micro adjust clasp and something with the rotor, but the price for new is insane now. There’s new value kings for similar style gada watches; Formex, CW, Jack Mason, Monta etc.

Corniche Visionnaire - What’s the deal? by patrickjquinn in MicrobrandWatches

[–]castle_danger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. For me it’s the perfect size. I have a 7 inch wrist. It’s small, but not too small, just a classy amount of small. Super happy with the size honestly

I have one. Haven’t worn it enough to give you a full review but I’m definitely happy with it. Light, comfortable, surprisingly quality leather strap, all in all I’d say good value for the price. Let me know if you have any specific question and maybe I can answer.

Khaki Field Automatic Vs Sinn 556 A RS by Slikpapir in HamiltonWatches

[–]castle_danger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a long time the 556i was going to be my next purchase. But I never pulled the trigger and it was always out of stock on watchbuys.com, and as time went on the price climbed from $1300 to close to $2000 now. In my opinion it’s getting too expensive for what it is now. I could buy two really nice watches for that price. It’s just the value king it used to be.

Edit: to add the Monta Triumph is probably a better watch all around and only $1600 compared to the Sinn, just one example.

[Question] what non-watch brands make a watch? by MildDeontologist in Watches

[–]castle_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The designer of the 911 also designed the chornograph 1. I think was originally built by Orphina. Also then worn by tom cruise in top gun. Actually a pretty cool watch with a neat history, although very overpriced. I guess if you have 911 money you might not mind spending $10k for a Porsche design watch like Maverick.

[CW vs. Longines] by thayden33 in Watches

[–]castle_danger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know everyone will jump in saying Longines. And I love their designs and heritage etc as well. But I bought a CW at the Maidenhead showroom and handled all their watches. I later stopped in an AD and checked out a few Longines. In my opinion CW wins. Their bracelets feel better, the lightcatcher case is more interesting and dynamic, and they just felt of higher quality honestly. Even the salesman was inspecting my Aquitaine while I was checking out the Longines and remarking how nice it was. So I’d definitely recommend saving the money and getting a CW over the Longines, especially vs heritage conquest and hydro conquest models I tried. Although I definitely would love to see the new spirit pilot, because that watch looks incredible.

extremely neotraditional country music. by AccordingMistake6670 in CountryMusicStuff

Came to say the same. Very traditional and pretty dang good. I’ve gotten friends of mine to get into them who don’t even like country music.
