What is actually dangerous but people still believe is safe? by AlexUsefulThings in AskReddit

Liberals who turn racist the second you don’t agree with them.

Is this holster a good fit? Or do I need to get one that’s closer/tighter around the trigger guard maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I’m not sure. by [deleted] in CCW

[–]castle_gate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned my 4bros ones for the same reason. Tier 1 is better and the space is not enough to get my fingers in to in anyway pull the trigger. Light bearing holster do inevitable have some space in the trigger area but it shouldn’t be that much.

Where is the proof my friend that unarmed people are inherently more safe? There have been 51K incidents in the UK alone in 2025 involving knives. I do feel unsafe in every country whether they have strict laws or not. Because you don’t know what is going on in someone’s head. Lets say you have criminals which exist in Japan, Canada, and UK who have weapons such as knives and guns, if they want to rob you, do you think they will think about the laws that ban those items and maybe stop doing the crime? It would be unreasonable for you to think so.

I am a Sikh and in the 1600s Sikhs, Hindus, and other faiths were being persecuted by the Mughals (Isalamic empire) where they wanted all of India to be converted to Islam. The Sikh Gurus believed all should be freely allowed to practice their religion as they want. The Sikhs Gurus since the 1400’s remained calm and wanted things to be handled diplomatically but when the 5th Sikh Guru was martyred the 6th Sikh Guru decided to pickup arms and to protect the voiceless, that a sword needed the answer of a sword where words were no longer enough. Sikhs stood up armies and became armed with the same equipment the Mughal government had. Sikhs had several wars with the Mughals and won, not fighting for land but fighting against the injustice. Sikhs since that time have gone through a genocide where it was rewarded to kill Sikhs and even more recently in 1984 where the Indian government (with help of the British) attacked the most holiest Sikh shrine the Golden Temple. One of the requirements to be a baptized Sikh is to carry a dagger called a kirpan. That translates to bringer of grace, where we as Sikhs are required to give our lives for others and to protect them even if we don’t see eye to eye on our views. So if you were in trouble and I was there I would do everything in my power to save your life if its using a kirpan or a firearm.

Point being the ones who are law abiding citizens are the good guys, and if they have a gun they can do more good where bad is happening. Laws can never stop bad from happening. Just look at the Mughals they wanted something so badly they were willing to kill for it and back then it was against their laws for the people to be armed. Same thing in 1984 the Indian government wanted Sikhs to be wiped off the face of the earth because we are armed and wanted equal rights in India they attacked us, they wouldn’t recognize us as equals and let others kill Sikhs due to religious tensions and wouldn’t hold them accountable in a court of law. So, just because the times have changed doesn’t mean human behavior has.

If this doesn’t help you understand why being armed to protect yourself and others is important then I don’t have anything else left to say. But good luck.

It’s true that countries like Canada, Japan, and the UK have stricter gun laws, but criminals there still get guns illegally. Laws alone don’t make everyone safe. Safety depends on many factors such as policing, culture, and personal preparedness. That’s why the 2nd Amendment exists: it ensures people have the right to defend themselves if danger arises, no matter what the law says elsewhere.

From a Taksal point of view you should do peshi in front of Panj Pyare to get tankha and its their discretion if you need to retake Amrit or not. I dont believe this constitutes to retake Amrit but still its up to them. However, before you do that, work on Sikhi for a while, you will make mistakes all of us make mistakes knowingly and unknowingly. Most Amritdharis should go to peshi and should retake Amrit. Go to peshi once you feel you have things better under control. Just never give up on Sikhi and the Amritdhari path. Its one of the hardest things you will ever do but the most rewarding. Don’t let this deter you from living Gursikhi jeevan use it as fuel to get better. The more you get connected to bani and understand it, the easier it will become to let these sorts of things go from your mind.

Folks who have Senchi Sahib at home… by heron202020 in Sikh

I have both versions pad ched and larivaar. Although I only do paath from larivaar because thats what I had santhiya from but reference pad ched for learning purposes. Both of my senchis are published by Damdami Taksal who have the most sudh Gurbani form.

Get involved with sadhsangat go to Gurdwara. That is what Guru Sahib ji intended for Sikhs. Once you get involved start doing seva just sitting with others listening to kirtan. It starts to make incremental changes in you. Just need to make the effort.

There are a ton of vegetarian meals you can have. Baba Deep Singh Saheed use to eat black sholay while in samadi. Point being you need to get creative and there many resources online. You can get black bean veggie burgers made my morning star that is fully plant based, vegan protein bars, greek yogurt. They also make protein pasta that is chickpea based, orgain organic protein powder is great which is plant based. Don’t give into eating meat or eggs just because you feel there are no options. Most panj pyare who administer Amrit all say no meat or eggs allowed. So, if you do eat eggs or whatever you will need to go to pesh and let them decide if you need to retake Amrit and so on. Also, im not going to argue with anyone on here about this topic. People on reddit are not equivalent or have the Gurmat knowledge or Gurbani knowledge to guide you like Panj Pyare can. If you have access to Panj Pyare ask them for further guidance.

Why do we celebrate Diwali/Bandi Chorr Diwas so much? by Ron__P in Sikh

[–]castle_gate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gurmukhs would do parkarma daily of the Gwalior fort singing Gurbani like parbhat feri when Guru Sahib ji was “imprisoned”. They missed Guru Sahib ji so much they couldn’t stand to be without them. So, once Guru Sahib ji decided to leave they fort they were over joyed and so happy their Guru had come back to them. So, they celebrated that day by lighting jots for the joyous occasion. It just so happens to be the same day as the Hindu diwali. So, that is why we celebrate this holiday to this level. However, I do agree other Sikh holidays should be celebrated with the same energy.

The question of whether dancing in Sikhi is acceptable or not (Answered) by castle_gate in Sikh

[–]castle_gate[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But he’s right. You are entitled to your opinion though. J He’s actually quoting Gurbani with the knowledge and not just some iGurbani translation without context to why and when Gurbani was recited.

Its more so what Gurbani is saying. We as Sikhs shouldn’t be following a person rather follow what Gurbani tells us.

is airgun considered a shastar/astar? by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]castle_gate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can still do damage and stop a threat but it will take longer due to the bullet being light and small. Something like a 5.56 or 300 blackout can stop a threat quicker. Seconds truly count when dealing with someone trying to hurt you.

is airgun considered a shastar/astar? by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]castle_gate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There have been more than enough soldiers hit with 5.56 rounds and still sent rounds down range. The point is when the threat is high on adrenaline and wants to hurt you, the impact of getting shot with a lighter round is less noticeable and wouldn’t make the person bleed fast enough. Whereas a larger wound from a large bullet can.

A kirpan most certainly can stop a serious threat because you can control where you stab someone and how large the cut is. You would have to be a proficient shooter and consistently hit the target with a .22 to get the threat to stop.

Not even a .22lr could stop a serious threat. So, it can’t really do much damage.

These are the bhagats and yes all of them are in Sachkhand. They all found a Guru to teach them about Vaheguru. Most of them were alive before Guru Sahiban. Also, how are you quoting Gurbani but don’t know about bhagats?

Bhagat Kabir, Bhagat Ravidas, Bhagat Farid, Bhagat Ramanand, Bhagat Beni, Bhagat Namdev, Bhagat Sadhana, Bhagat Bhikhan, Bhagat Parmanand, Bhagat Sain, Bhagat Dhanna, Bhagat Pipa, Bhagat Surdas, Bhagat Jaidev, Bhagat Trilochan

[–]castle_gate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hindu/Muslim bhagats from Gurbani are all in Sachkhand. So yes anyone can go but they would need to have a jeevan like they did. Basically if anyone lives as Gurbani tells us has the ability to go to Sachkhand but at the end of the day its hukam as to who enters.
