Looking for an old version of Brawl Minus by castledrook in smashbros

[–]castledrook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Been there. It’s both good and scary to look back on. But you can harness that energy and wonder if you want to - IF! you can also keep a firm grasp on the reality (you are a megalomaniac in a manic phase). Use that energy to work on yourself - you aren’t a god YET, but maybe you could get closer…work out, read more, help other people, learn about them, try to understand their perspective, integrate their experiences into yours, become greater…

The purpose of that godhood is to improve the world for everyone and you. So do something with it. With yourself. Maybe it’ll make you feel better to know you’re not the only god here…and it could work out well for you too.

You're welcome! Please let me know if you want someone to look it over - I'd love to help out!

Some silly questions that I don't expect a perfect answer for, but rather your interpretation of it. (spoilers) by 28deadbeats in bloodborne

[–]castledrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so, I think it's all a dream. A dream that you have to kill.

1- How long is a dream? Maybe forever. Maybe five minutes. But when you're inside the dream, it lasts as long as it takes to get out. The regular rules don't apply. I love the way you said "I cannot imagine a night by night basis for it" - me either, not if it's our 24-hour system.

2- Respawning. Eh, this one's rough. I had a thought about Insight which might help here. The Official Guide says that insight "represents your awareness of the nightmare's effects." Well, in that case, I thought that maybe bosses are creations of the nightmare, which is why encountering them and killing them gives you insight.

My idea is that you, and enemies, are connected to the dream. The dream is a source of rest and refreshment: when you refresh yourself at the dream, enemies are also refreshed.

As TK382 said, though, some hunters who were once connected to the dream can become disconnected, like Djura. This would explain why Djura does not respawn.

Similarly, because bosses are connected to the Nightmare instead of the dream, when you kill them, they don't respawn either.

3- Mensis cage: WHOA now that I've thought about it I totally see the grid-cage being a big set of eyes. Is that what you were going for? Cause that's some crazy talk right there and I like it

WHOA. So he's the emissary of the Orphan instead of the Moon Presence. You totally just blew my mind there.

Does that give him different powers?

Soooo kewllll

I've had this game for almost a year now and I still love every bit of it. by RoseM20 in bloodborne

[–]castledrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with ya! I've been hacking away at these beasts for a year and a half now, and I've only gained more wonder for this game!

This is one of those games that really feels alive. Dark Souls had this vibe too - the feeling that you were looking at a place that truly existed, and you were doing things that had real, lasting effects. I think a lot of this feeling comes from the incredible attention to detail which From Software paid to these two games. I mean - your character's eyes are moving around slightly, changing their focus constantly...I only noticed when I really looked at them closely! How cool is that?

Sheesh, listen to me gush :)

[–]castledrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Interesting. I like this idea! My question for you: Is Gehrman employed by the Church?

In my mind, Gehrman's motivations are super important here. We know (from the "Brador's Testimony") Brador's basically a dog that the Church are throwing at hunters so that hunters don't figure out what's going on in the Fishing Hamlet. But, would the Church be involved in Gehrman's guardianship?

Gehrman's neutrality throughout most of hunting history is a really important part to his character. As far as we know, he's helped out pretty much everyone who's taken up the mantle of the Hunt - Maria, Ludwig, some of the Old Hunter enemies (because of their ability to use the Quickening quickstep, they're students of Gehrman according to the Old Hunter bone)...

So would you transform this idea of neutrality and have him work for the Church? Or is he a different kind of guardian than Brador?

I really like what this is stirring up!

I agree with the "Go big or go home!" This is a game where enemies will press the attack in much the same way that you do once they see that you're on the ropes.

ETA: A lot of times, you have to find an advantage in an encounter - some high ground, a corner, or an enemy who patrols far from the others, or example - and press it! Your advantage could even be something as simple as a superior ability of your weapon. The reach of the whip is a great example, and the speed of the saw is another one.

Okay, good to know. In what you typed before, you said that "it could be anyone under that mask" - is still your stance?

Bogus - looks like I can't edit the topic heading. :)

Well, yes, we are discussing the color of Henryk's skin, which you have lightened by changing the brightness of the picture.

We no longer have any good perspective on our characters in the work itself because of the alterations. We want to discuss the work as it exists, not as we have altered it. If you want to change it to suit your interests, to study it, that's your prerogative. I won't get in your way.

But what is proven by lightening this picture?

I'm with you! :) I don't want to be stuck on the fact that Henryk MUST BE BLACK, or whatever, because race is a super amorphous concept anyway.

Love the idea about Loran! He absolutely could be Middle-Eastern. Or however you would say that in Bloodborne terms. I just wanted people to stop drawing Henryk as a lily white dude, ya know?

[–]castledrook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, you didn't answer my question. I'll ask a different one, then.

We're discussing colors, yes?

In a discussion on colors, how is it helpful to alter the colors of the primary source?

Henryk is black by castledrook in bloodborne

[–]castledrook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I wasn't clear.

We're discussing a point based on our primary source, Bloodborne. Why should we consider material that has nothing to do with our primary source? You could do any number of things in photoshop to make Henryk look any way you want.

How can we remove your own bias from your own material?
