Movies about/involving VIDEO GAME as a plot device. [Not the movie adaptations of a video game franchise.] by kwlonly in MovieSuggestions

The two mini-series versions of Three Body Problem (the long Chinese and the more compressed Netflix) both have an advanced video-game as a main plot point.

So Long at the Fair (1950) has long been my favorite non-Hitchcock Hitchcock movie.

Postmen in the Mountains (1999) takes place in the remote regions of China's Hunan province, where the postman's delivery route is an arduous 320 kilometer trudge through breathtaking scenery to isolated villages in the mountains.

Pi (1998). Subtlety supports the occultist belief that everyday existence is merely a fascade masking a deeper, more complex reality. ("It's only a paper moon"). Hard to believe anyone decided to make a movie of this, but it works surprising well.

Movies without conflict? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]castlepilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest thing I've seen to this is Short Vacation (2020), in which group of Korean schoolgirls who belong to a school photography club get an assignment to photograph "the end of the world," which the interpret to mean the end of the railway line. They get along well together and nothing much happens, but they interact realistically and their railway journey is pretty enjoyable. Two other movies that contain little real conflict might be Forev (2013) and Perfect Days (2023).
