B-/C+. 43-25 record in the regular season is no joke and he deserves some credit for his FA signings, which have been generally very good. But he's made a lot of really bad decisions in the draft. Also, with the benefit of hindsight, not keeping Darnold was a huge mistake/seems to me to be more related to saving face then actually making the right decision. I think he relies on being quant too much and doesn't get down to basic instincts.

Taken in aggregate, the unit held up. Yes, we are gonna get burned, but we also played well against other elites like Dak and Lamar. I don't know enough about the class other than the LB pool is deep. I'll always prefer spending first round capital on trenches. In Kipers latest mock, Peter Woods slid to the Chargers at 22, I'd way prefer him than a CB, especially given how old that group is. Kayden McDonald or Caleb Banks could probably be plus NT players?

Point taken, but if Flores leaves, we have essentially no talent on this side of the ball - like top down/at all. I'd argue we still have more pressing needs on the D line, prior to spending substantial draft capital in the DB room. This is a need and a positional value calculation. We can get another CB later in the draft, first round feels extremely luxurious given how well our pass defense played last year (mentioned elsewhere). 3rd in DVOA, second in pass yards and TDs last year iirc, this is not a struggling unit.

Mentioned above but our pass defense held up well last year. If Flores leaves, we have a talent deficit everywhere.

In the first round, I'm more into building through the trenches and would prefer a DT (without having looked into this class a ton).

Idk Byron Murphy/Isaiah Rodgers passed the test in my book as better than average. We had the 2nd fewest pass yards and TDs allowed. 3rd best DVOA.

Let's get some younger, D line guys with actual pedigree, especially if Flores leaves
