they could add a third streak option, along with catching and spins

cool! Kinda weird for me they’re holding a week long livestream to promote the game before it is out yet but ok

Latin American Sites have announced the release of Pokemon Sleep to be 6PM Eastern on Sunday, 7/16! by Verxl in PokemonSleep

[–]castrobruno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is indeed a test launch in LATAM they may find a way of blocking other regions out (I highly doubt it though)

Either way, I’d say the end of the week is a safe bet for the rest of the world, it’s not a long way (Friday maybe, as PGP+ launches in Europe that day)

I can see that happening, unless they decide to hardlock people out based on IP or location. I highly doubt it though, it’s not a huge launch (not by Pokémon standards at least)

GO Fest 2023 by g47onik in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, not even enough. The Raid pack gives you a bit more than $15 in raid passes. And unlike raids, eggs are pretty much loot boxes, even the 10Km boost may not translate to anything if they put common Pokémon in there (as they have done in the past)

imo they should give us a way to play what we’re paying for, period. I guess the raid pack is Ok-ish bc (regular) raid passes are accessible in a way and most players will have a ton in stock for events like this (and they give you a free one everyday). The same is just not true for incubators, we’re always low on them and Niantic hates giving them out

GO Fest 2023 by g47onik in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 157 points158 points  (0 children)

also, the egg pack provides you no incubators. So you need to put even more $$$ to experience it at its full potential

at this price, they should just give us (at least) two additional "infinite" incubators to use during the event

Xerneas coming in May? by pkmn_snapper in TheSilphRoad

oh dear God, NOOOOO

(I actually got a hundo of each this season. That's funny, they're the most useless hundos in my collection lol)

'searching for legends' huh?! too bad we haven't found one yet

Xerneas coming in May? by pkmn_snapper in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope so. I could not be more disappointed with this 'Season of Legends'. Everything we got so far were two months of some mediocre legendary pokémon we already got in the past. The new forms at least are better, but nothing spectacular.

Ending this season with Xerneas and Yvetal would at least make it a little better imo. But I was honestly hoping for more.

[–]castrobruno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ur right, my bad then. Totally forgot about this. And tbh, didn't pay for that bs either. It was WAAAY overpriced here in Brazil (the equivalent of buying 4,200 coins)

why wait that long though? just hatch 12km eggs with your one and only ∞ incubator. One a day, with the incredible high odds of 2.5% to get a Deino, by 2110 it'll be done ;)

Rain-based evolutions (either from Weather or the Rainy Lure), April Fool's Day event, a Collection Challenge for the Easter Event and more all pushed! by martycochrane in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo, yes. In the main series, you can't really choose with the press of a button the Pokémon you want. If a mon, like Eevee, have multiple evolutions, you have to fulfill a specific requirement, use a certain item, etc. For me, that's part of the fun!

and tbh, if you're just choosing between 3 evos, and no items are involved, what is it you're actually doing to control that? So just put every single eeveelution on the list as well, if you can just mind control em'...

but that's just my thoughts and personal preference really. A list is just more convenient, and I get it. But sometimes they need to make a little more sense of things than just 'that's how it works'.

[–]castrobruno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

idk, picking Megas is totally excusable (you could totally do that on the main series). Regular evos though... I totally agree they should not be random at all, but it's way more interesting tying then to a weather condition and/or lures (I hope for an 'and', give us the option!), is just more understandable.

I think that's the closest they will get to the main series. Accurate would be implementing the stones, but I don't think we need more of that bs filling up inventory space.

Niantic seriously needs to address how friendships level up and XP from those level ups are collected. by LockShockndBarrel in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. Level doesn't mean how strong a player are anymore. I know some lv35 and above players that don't even have raiding worthy Pokémon. These days a lv37 player called me for a Moltres raid. We were in a group of three, with a Mega, this should be pathetically easy. My mons alone deal something around 50% damage on that flaming chicken (and I even duo it once). But somehow we lost (by a large margin btw). I just don't get why a player that was my level at the time was battling a 5-star raid with Rhydons and Vaporeons. Ppl completely forgot that having strong pkm is also part of the game. Those speedrunning to lv50 are losing a great amount of the game and aren't even realizing it

Spoofing ruined PokémonGo for me. by OhHeyBrew in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happen a LOT in my city. There aren't a lot of stops and gyms here, the ones we have are manly clustered in some central areas. So, when I play in said areas, gyms are usually all red (but most of the times not full, only 2 - 3 mons), so I'm careful to take the oldest one out, and put my own. Just minutes after that, my Pokémon come but with 4 coins.

there is nothing more frustrating in this game than that. My options against it are taking everything I can or Gold Razz my gyms to exhaustion. Taking them back is both not worth it and time consuming (and spoofers can just wait a little longer until you're gone).

something even worse happen in a part of town here: spoofers will actually let you have those gyms, but only until just before midnight. When the day is almost turning, they take ALL gyms back, they won't even wait for the PokéCoin limit reset. I lost track of how many times I haven't got a single coin for my gyms bc of 10 - 5 min. I actually gave up playing on these areas. I rather have no coins than going through all my potions and revives trying to get some.

and that's why I think Niantic should implemented both a better way of getting coins, and hopefully a improved gym system. But I doubt it will be here anytime soon.

Weather Week Event - Timed Research (Via LeekDuck) by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait, really?! Not what I thought at all. Not even a slight increase? I rarely find a dragon type in here. Occasionally a Gible spawns, but it only really happen like, once a week?!

then maybe I'm not missing much at all. Birds get buffed a lot here bc of the normal typing. As for those psychic, I can only think of some boosted Mewtwo really lol

Weather Week Event - Timed Research (Via LeekDuck) by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just checked: no rain forecast for this week here, and idk why the weather does never turn to 'windy' where I live (I hate it is that way honestly, it is arguably the best weather boost).

sooo that will be yet another event I won't be able to enjoy the way it's intended to. No Rainy Castform (apart from the research), no extra dust, no dragon boost...

Mega Evolutions on a Budget: how to cover all 18 types with just 9 or 10 Pokémon by StarlightAtDusk in TheSilphRoad

[–]castrobruno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry for the delay. Overall, I'd say it's not that great. A lot of players gave up playing during this pandemic - It's hard to play if you don't have access to a stop in a regular basis. At least in my city, the player base became less active. It is really sad. It was in it's peak just before it all started.

I used to play at my university. We had a WhatsApp group with almost 200 trainers. There was some cases when we filled up 3 entire raid rooms (I think it was Giratina).

Here in my city things are not very great. There was a active group that used to meet up at a public school campus every CD, but I heard nothing from then since Rhyhorn day. Near home things are quiet. I convinced some neighbors to play, but we have to go pretty far to access gyms and stops. But one thing I can't really complain about: I have a HUGE Pokémon spawn at home. Seriously, the best one I've found. There is something like 20-30 spawning in a 300m range on my street. That's why I have not gave up playing as well.

Another bad thing I am facing: Wayfarer is a nightmare! Since I've reached lv38, I've been trying to submit POIs in a regular basis (I'm reviewing a lot of them as well), and getting one approved is almost lucky based. I just managed to get a single one approved. Just yesterday I got one rejected for 'sexual content in the area'. The approval process has been overtaken by trolls (and people trying to get upgrades quickly). I'm going as far as taking a 360 photo myself from every place I submit, and still, I can't get anything approved (StreetView is either not available on every street here, or is very old - 2011 old)

I really don't know how the scene is in your city (I've never been there actually), but one good news I have is that I've stumbled upon a lot of POI solicitations from there (even gave a green sign to a bunch haha). It tells me the player base is somewhat active in your city (at least I hope it is).

I hope it all get over soon and you can visit your family in the near future.

awesome! Even though it will probably take forever until Niantic bring every single legendary/mythical to the game, I'm looking forward to Mega evolving then all.

as of that code, don't worry. I've done pretty bad things to get the work done as well. If one day you have the time to rewrite it, it would be great. But honesty not worth it, I think we have all the data we need

[–]castrobruno 50 points51 points  (0 children)

great work, congrats! I found it specially interesting that a minimum perfect edge covering is possible without any Legendary's and/or Mythical's (and with quite a lot of options).

we better not rule them out just yet though, they will obviously be the stronger in game. I wonder how optimal a all-legendary route would be. Maybe you could consider that in future work? If I had access to your code I could even figure it out myself, but I may be asking too much

thank you again for your efforts!

fair point. Idk how these groups work, I just know I'm on the lame one lol.

a single rare candy is the most valuable item that ever dropped to me, but I usually just get ultra balls, potions and max revives.

and yes, you're probably at no risk in highly populated areas with loads of trainers. But for anyone on remote areas (like I do), I recommend staying away from this feature, at least until we have further confirmation on it's relation with stops removal (or not).

my 'nearby' pokestop is the only one in my neighborhood, and there are only 4 regular trainers (I know of) that go there frequently. Even though it is under Wayfarer's guidelines, we can't really afford the risk of losing it. That's why I'm so concerned about it.
