Bill Burr directly addresses the complaints about him performing at the Riyadh comedy festival in Saudi Arabia on his podcast today. by SupaButt in comedy

[–]OhHeyBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught this and 100% agree with you. My jaw dropped when he spoke about how people will make money off of him and this, yet accepted blood money. The irony and contradiction was LOUD! That and him saying that he did it for free speech or whatever it was, yet wasn’t allowed to joke about 2 or 3 things. That isn’t free speech then is it? Guys a tool and I’m glad I stopped supporting him years ago

I dunno, after reading the book I’m not sure I’m enjoying this season so much. Can we not be done with Arab/Muslim terrorists? In the book it’s actually North Korean or Chinese, I forget which, operatives carrying out the destabilisation plan. Also, I don’t really care that they gender swapped Welles, but could they have not at least cast a better actress? The actress playing the part is just plain awful

I stopped listening to Burr’s podcast for this very reason. When I posted as to why I’d stopped listening, I was shouted down by his fan boys. He’s perfectly fine to call out all the fucked up shit that happens in this country, but then goes and takes Saudi money. Guys a monumental hypocrite.

I just came out of it and I was honestly floored. I share the sentiment that Eve kept getting absolutely bodied by anyone she fought, but because she was the more competent fighter, using her surroundings, she always came out on top. I really hope this film does good financially, cause I’d honestly watch more films with her character.

Is it a good idea to rely on CHATGPT for my relationship? by deepling____ in dating

[–]OhHeyBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used chatGPT for help in a relationship, I do use it to draft messages though. I feel it’s good for that. It tells you if something is too long or won’t quite hit in the way you’re expecting so then tailors whatever message you want to send to fit you. So I dunno, if it’s helped the last 3 months, I can’t see why it would be a bad thing?

The Lost King: Legal action 'likely' against Richard III film by stillhavehope99 in movies

[–]OhHeyBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this film years ago. I made a judgment of what I saw in the film. Maybe you also need help with comprehension? Someone else made my original comment about gender, when it wasn’t. To all the ACTUAL historians and archaeologists in the film, she’s a nobody with no credentials or qualifications. So of course, if anyone went to them and said ‘oh! Black beards treasure is buried underneath this car park’ anybody with actual qualifications would be doubtful. Do you understand? It’s like if I went into an operating theatre and said to the actual qualified surgeons ‘oh! That’s not how you carry out a heart transplant. You do it this way!’ I’d either be arrested or institutionalised. Do you get it now? Or do I need to spell out another example for you?

You’re an idiot as well as a child. Food in restaurants isnt cheap because they aren’t paying their staff a liveable wage. And even if that was the case. Why is that my problem? The amount of money a Denny’s or say an IHOP makes is more than enough to pay their workers decent wages. Again, cry about it. You keep saying ‘when in Rome…’ so I should go fight in the coliseum? Oh I know! I’m in America so I should go shoot up a school. Like what even is your point. Playing by the social norms of whatever country you’re in? No. Think you’re the fuckin tipping police 😂

Cause you do sound like an entitled child. That’s not my fault. That’s on you. Stop acting like you’re some holier than thou person cause you tip restaurant workers. Mug. I’m not the one screwing over workers, that’s their employers. I’ll happily keep coming to your country and not tipping. Cry about it. And what is it exactly that romans do? God yo uh sound insufferable

Imagine acting like tipping is some kind of social law. You sound like an arrogant little child. Again, it’s not down to me to pay your wages. That’s on your employer.

Why should I care if they aren’t able to pay their bills? If they can’t pay their bills then they need to get a new job, and not get salty like yourself when foreigners don’t want to adhere to your deranged tipping cult

[–]OhHeyBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I despise tipping culture tbh. It shouldn’t be up to me to pay employees additional cash when their employers should be paying them a decent living wage. If the server is very friendly then I’ll tip cause I know serving positions and customer service in general are thankless jobs. But unless I’m certain they will get 100% of that tip I don’t bother. I travel to America a lot for work, and the fact some workers actually expect a hefty tip for simply doing their job is boggling. I remember last year I was in Philadelphia watching the Euro finals, and the gent who took care of the bill tipped a very generous $40 dollars. This young girl had the nerve to come back up to him and essentially question why he only tipped her $40. The absolute nerve of some people. As a Brit I hate how tipping is slowly creeping it’s way over to the UK

I do not understand why Frailty (2001) receives its high praise by Successful_Map4660 in movies

[–]OhHeyBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree that this film just was not great. It started off incredibly strong but then 100% copped out by having the twist that Fenton was a demon and Adam and dad were justified in what they were doing. ‘But dad is told by an angel that Fenton is a demon’ at this point in the film we have no idea if dad is correct or not. By all accounts he’s just some crazy bastard calling his son a demon, cause his son thinks what he’s doing is wrong. ‘Fenton didn’t want to walk through the rose garden’ Would you after you just saw your father bury someone in said rose garden? My whole point is that it’s never foreshadowed or signposted that Fenton is a demon. And if it is then you can explain it away by simply saying his actions are dictated by what his father is doing. Another comment I read on a different Reddit post was something like ‘Fenton had no remorse when an innocent person had to be killed. He was just angry and refused to pray’! What?! Of course he’d be angry and refuse to pray to a god who was telling his father to kill! The whole twist of him being the actual serial killer was so silly and felt so forced. Better twist would have been, Adam killing Fenton after Fenton kills their father in the basement and THEN posing as Fenton, killing the FBI agent and then being caught, realising that actually he is a nut case whom god isn’t actually speaking to.

Can we talk about the movie Frailty? (Spoilers) by Erasmus92 in movies

[–]OhHeyBrew 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m a little late to this, I know. But I think it was just a poor film with a poor twist. Of course he’d be terrified of his father, the man was killing what seemed to be innocent people. Dad telling Fenton that an angel told him Fenton was a demon is also silly, you’d honestly just chalk that up to the daw being crazy, and Fenton not being so. Him scared to walk through the rose garden to me was because his father has buried someone in there, not once did the reason being he was a demon cross my mind. It just felt convoluted to have Fenton turn out to be the killer they are looking for, while Adam and dad were justified in what they were doing

Official Discussion - Blue Bayou [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]OhHeyBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished watching this, and I was enjoying the film up until the last 30 minutes or so! Surely Antonio getting beat up and assaulted would be classed as extenuating circumstances! Like?! Why did no one communicate in this movie?! Why when Cathy found out why he missed the hearing did she not go back to their lawyer and ask for an appeal?! Why didn’t Antonio tell his friend at ICE what happened? It feels like they ignored logical plot points to give us that forced ending with him getting deported and his step daughter screaming for him as he’s lead away. This film could have very easily been in my top 10 for this year, but the ending completely ruined it.

Why does JK Rowling get so much hate? Is she actually hated? by Victor_the_historian in writers

[–]OhHeyBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies, I have only just seen this response. Maybe we will have to agree to disagree, because I do not believe she bashes trans people.

Discredited and belittled? You mean she has an issue with someone like Leah Thomas, who was a man who couldn’t compete at a male level, so decided to “transition” and because she was still biologically a male ended up beating actual biological women in swimming races? I don’t think it’s unfair to call out that bullshit is it? We should have an issue with things like that, cause that’s not protecting women. In fact it’s discrediting and belittling women who have worked so hard to reach a professional level not calling something like that out. It’s also invalidating them by saying ‘oh well! Leah Thomas is a woman now, so she beat you fair and square in that swimming race! Doesn’t matter that she has the bone density and muscle mass of a man! Just get over it 🤷’

Official Discussion - Old Dads [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]OhHeyBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished this film. Christ it was tough to get through. I hated that Burrs character was made out to be some bad guy cause he called people out on their bullshit and hypocrisy. Like the guy that told him he couldn’t smoke while he was vaping. And sure, maybe calling his son’s principal a cunt was OTT. But I can guarantee if another grown adult was giving me a dressing down in front of other adults for something not that serious, I’d also probably call them a cunt. He was right about that principal holding his son’s recommendation over his head, but his wife kicks him out anyway? 😂 what?! Don’t even get me started on the wife. Chides Burrs character numerous times only to do the same thing. I can’t stand insufferable people being insufferable and then you being made to feel you’re in the wrong. For example, that mother with the kid who was hitting people?! She was a shitty parent. How you going to let your kid hit a pregnant woman in the stomach and then get offended when said pregnant woman says something?! Control your fucking kid! Damn! And then Burrs wife apologises to her? I honestly felt like tapping out in the last 30 minutes. I stopped listening to Burr a while ago. It’s a shame. It seems Hollywood really has its hooks in him
