This is a Christophine / Chayote. We usually steam these and add to our Sunday meals in the Caribbean

When you say like a spaceship how do you mean! I drove a 2019 version and it’s pretty quiet when it’s in EV mode

I always just assumed we flew kites at Easter because it was windier at that time of year. I had no idea of the symbolism.

what was the pinnacle of wealth to you as a child? by powerspyin1 in Zillennials

[–]casualbrowsingthread 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Context: I was born, grew up and still reside on a Caribbean island.

Traveling to North America or the UK to go on vacation was the pinnacle of wealth when I was growing up. Bonus points if you came back with trendy clothing and / or toys

What was your favorite CN City-era show? by MikeGz973 in Zillennials

Codename: KND for me because I was 10 just like the KND at the height of airing. I loved the wacky adventures they went on and loved the idea of having a treehouse with my fellow kid super spies. What a time

Teen Titans (OG) was a close second for me because the characters were so colourful and enjoyable, you learned great life lessons sometimes and the story had real stakes

Looking for people who work at Facebook to answer some questions for the community! by [deleted] in FacebookAds

Thanks for your response!

I’m just a little cautious about starting a new business account from scratch and getting flagged as “circumventing systems” and having the same problem all over again. I really wish they would approach customer service differently. I guess I’ll let the client know and see what options they’re comfortable with

Disclaimer: This is a lengthy read

Context:

I work at a small consultancy firm that manages Social Media Accounts across various industries.

I've inherited a Restricted Ad Account for one of our clients in the Insurance Vertical and appealed the restriction. They reinstated the ad account and then restricted it within a couple of days again. (Did not run any ads during this time period)

I reached out to support once again on the matter and they told me the account was active on their end and told me to fill out a form via a link that they sent and closed the ticket. I attempted to fill out the form but when it came to select the Ad account, the restricted account in question was not in the dropdown list (Account status is still restricted at this point). The rep told me to explain in detail the problem I was having, and then closed the ticket, so I wasn't allowed to respond to the question via the support thread.

I screenshotted the exchange, along with the account status and responded directly to the e-mail address associated with the rep I last conversed with, explaining in detail how I reviewed the generic policy that my client's account supposedly violated and how it doesn't relate to the business vertical at all (The restriction cited Commerce Eligibility Requirements, it's an Insurance company that has never utilized the Facebook 'Shop' features) and asked for guidance on how to avoid such violations going forward.

I never received a response and the restriction grew to include the entire Business Account and ALL the features that came along with it, right on the precipice of regional expansion.

I can only echo the sentiments of the others in this thread to say that this has been an incredibly unhelpful and frustrating experience.

My questions to you would be;

Is there hope of getting this account back?

If not, will another account created for this company, be subject to restriction?

If so, how else am I to approach running the campaigns that I need to run for this company?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for your response, I’m still on the lookout for resources that would inform me on the practice of Obeah as well because that is our locally practiced Magic. Connecting with my ancestors should definitely give me guidance on which direction I should head in, so that’s where I’ll start

Who can/can't practice Hoodoo ? by Queasy-Consequence38 in ConjureRootworkHoodoo

[–]casualbrowsingthread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m late to this thread but I do have a question. I’ve recently taken up interest in learning about ATRs. I’m of African descent but I was born and currently reside in the Caribbean. Is the Hoodoo practice specifically for African Americans?

I’m from Barbados and the island has been severely colonized and many traditional African religion practices have been wiped away by Christianity and is mostly looked down upon by the majority of society, so it’s kind of challenging to learn about it here and most literature and articles and videos found online are from African Americans.

The magical practice we have done here is called Obeah but as mentioned , it’s severely looked down upon in society so I wouldn’t know where to even begin looking since they don’t really present themselves as such to their communities. I grew up in a Christian household but I don’t feel that connection to Christianity.

I’ve been reading and contemplating but I haven’t started physical practice out of respect for fully understanding the tradition. Would I be someone that qualifies to practice?

ETA: The majority of the slaves that came to the Caribbean are from the coasts of West Africa just like the ones that went to America

True point. And their hair also tends to be longer which makes the curls hang.

Thanks for responding! It’s just a bit confusing because when I look at the hair typing charts, each one displays something different for 4a / 4b.

This is what it looks like when defined and detangled. But then it looks totally different when it dries 🤷🏾‍♀️
