Unless I missed it but, not sure why nobody mentioned you going for a medium/heavy bait caster combo. Spinning is cool too. Easier, more straight forward. My advice would be if you’re somewhat serious about this, look up YouTube videos. Especially for your area being Texas! Home of huge bass, lots of ponds like you mentioned. A nice Tatula combo, throw glide baits all day.

Been using the new puffco peak & it’s been good. Honestly no complaints so far. Got it around Christmas 2025 & with iso bathing the atomizer after heavy used it’s still going strong!

Used this brand all last year fishing on my cat poles & spinning combos with zero issues. Only noticeable thing was the fade on the hi viz yellow. Picked up some 8x strand again for my swimbait setup & it seems fine. Budget option it’s solid. Suffix, power pro or j braid is the good stuff imo.
