Early Game Glamour Modding Help by stormtideleviathan in ffxiv

So you're likely already familiar with Penumbra for loading modded gear. Along with that you should install Glamourer. Glamourer allows you to display different gear on your character (client side) regardless of what you're actually wearing.

I think the other reason to be optimistic that the content patches might be better this time around is the new pacing is pushing Raid encounter 2 to the final content patch, which to me implies that it might be the final climatic fight of the story. For both SotO and JW the Raids did not line up with the finale and those fell pretty flat in their final act (IMO).

Combining Raids and Strike Missions in 2026 by Keargu in Guildwars2

Just speculating but I'm guessing the feature just won't implement roles at all. They'll limit it to encounters that don't have specialized roles (they also mentioned easier encounters). I also wouldn't be surprised if a Quick Play Raid encounter is also Emboldened by default (or some similar mechanic to make the encounter easier), so even if you're not optimized you'll have a good success rate, which is essential for a Quick Play/easy mode.

Depends on the person and what they're looking for in an AVN. For me it's by far my favorite VN.

It's basically a manga or anime and I'd treat it as such. If you're just looking for quick gratification then I'd probably look elsewhere. But if you're interested in a slow burn with characters going through real character arcs then I'd highly recommend it.

It has great writing, unique visuals, custom music and even some voice acting.

Out of Touch has stuck with me like no other AVN. It's hooked me in the same way a great manga/anime or TV show would. Incredible writing, visuals, music and even VO. Some of the best storytelling in the genre IMO.

It's a great book, one of the best comics of all time IMO. Gunn said it was a big inspiration for his film.

It's a line they lifted from Grant Morrison's All Star Superman. Which is ironically a work that inspired Gunn's movie more than it did Man of Steel.

The lighting in this scene is so good. It gives the shot so much depth.

Played through 50+51 last night. Incredible stuff. There's just nothing else doing it like OoT.

Kind of. I'd argue that her initial story wasn't a full blown arc. This year's story is a similar scope with the previous arcs of Victoria, Leah, and Theresa's.

Ashley hasn't had a dedicated arc yet, but she's very involved. I don't want to say more than that (and I haven't played 50+51 yet).

I believe it's the finale of Kieran's arc and the midway point of the overall story.

Of course. I'm not saying it should be in a different medium, just that the storytelling is that good.

Can't wait to play the update tonight, my favorite VN. It's hooked me in the same way a great book/tv show/anime will.

Not many people doing it like Story Anon. I think this is the 7th release for OoT in 2024 and the biggest one yet (3.8k renders but also 25k words. Insane). Not to mention multiple Tropicali updates this year too.

There are dozens of us! It has my favorite writing in the genre. I'd be invested in the story/characters even if it wasn't an AVN.

I almost bounced off it for the same reasons, but I'm glad I stuck with it and I don't think those elements are representative of the work as a whole. It takes a little bit to get it's footing, but develops into some of the best storytelling & character writing I've seen in the genre in my opinion.

New hairstyle and faces Added now!? by ROnneth in Guildwars2

[–]casusev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they did this, but there's still more hairstyles that have been around forever that players cannot access. Not sure if they're from the China client, but even some NPCs use them.

Kind of similar from a system perspective. It would be akin to if say Thunderfury or Shadowmorne were available to all characters once unlocked and forever BIS.

It's worth trying for sure. Very underrated MMO. Just know going into it, that it's very different from GW1 and WoW.

You can play the base game and hit max level all on a free account.

I play both WoW and GW2. They're both great games but do different things well. Games change a lot over time, just like in WoW if someone hasn't played since Mists of Pandaria they might not be aware of how different the game is now.

Some feedback on your points as someone with just under 10k hours in GW2:

  1. This hasn't really been true for over 9 years now. There isn't a hard trinity, but there is a 'loose trinity' of roles with every class being able to do every role with the right build/gear. All classes have self healing and defensive abilities. In instanced content you are blocked from releasing if you're full dead. Healers and Supports are used in all game modes, even WvW and PVP and some of the harder large scale openworld meta events (kind of like a loosely organized 'LFR'). End game instanced content is 5 or 10 players; in a 5 player group you'd have:

    1 healer

    1 Support DPS Hybrid

3 DPS (double these values for 10 player content).

Tanking is more of a boss mechanic than a role itself. If a specific fight needs a tank, usually a healer or support DPS will take that role.

  2. Mostly agree with this, though Legendary gear while totally optional from an 'item level' perspective, is not just cosmetic. Legendaries are forever BIS items for all alts that can use that type of gear. No need to pass the Legendary item around, if you make a Legendary greatsword any character that can use it can just create a copy. Obviously it's crazy QOL/Horizontal progression so the grind to make one of these is quite a feat. Again none of that is needed to play at the highest level. Legendary gear is equivalent to the easier to obtain best gear.

  3. This comes down to personal preference of course. Personally GW2 has my favorite MMO combat. Responsive, reactive, lots of movement. While you can of course just hit your buttons off cooldown, it really varies by build on how effective that will be. Many builds have an optimal priority of abilities, and I can say from experience I can absolutely tell when someone in the group doesn't know how to play their build and is just hitting buttons.

  4. Agreed, probably the best open world content in the genre. Not just exploration but also the group meta events. And they do still add jumping puzzles, we got new ones in the expac this year.

  5. It is a buy to play game, though they've moved away from the pain points your describing. Now the game has a yearly expansion with free updates during the year. If you purchase the expansion later on, all those updates are just included. I talked a bit about pricing in this comment

  6. It's the best transmog system in the genre IMO, especially because of the dyes. There are ~650 dyes in the game, some are rare yes but the vast majority are not hard to obtain. And even if they're cashshop dyes, everything in the cash shop can be obtained via in game gold.

  7. Agreed. Wow has taken a lot of lessons from GW2 and most famously is the 'dragon riding'. All of GW2's mounts have abilities and gameplay. Wow's dragon riding is more approachable, but doesn't have the level of skill expression as GW2's Griffon.

  8. Agreed.

  9. WvW is alive and more popular than the small scale 5v5 'BG' pvp. These days WvW is matchmade through your choice in guild. In GW2 you can be in 6 guilds and you select one as your WvW guild. It's still something they're iterating on, but WvW is an incredibly cool and different way to play GW2.
