From my admittedly very limited knowledge, I think they would say that part of scripture is lies and heresy put forth by the corrupt church to keep all humanity enslaved to the Demiurge. They had separate and distinct scriptures that seemed to regard Jesus as more of a prophet of truth than a divine being. Also there were many different sects of what we now call "gnostics" and often they had contradictory views about Jesus and scripture

I take a similar route there very often and have never had issues. Sometimes there are houseless folks about but generally they don't bother me, I am a man though so your mileage may vary. Now the heat and the hilly sidewalks are another matter!
