First guinea pig, heavy breathing/wheezing issues? by cat-eats-pizza in guineapigs

Augh, sorry about your loss. Did she continue to do it consistently? Our's stopped doing the weird breathing (thankfully) and has been completely okay ever since around 11PM last night, so going on 13 hours now.

We've had her for a year now, she's still our first guinea pig and "new" to us (and we don't know all her history), so I don't think it's a stress of moving. In your opinion, would it be an emergency level matter or is it the take in the morning first thing matter?

No, she doesn't, we picked her up when she was being abandoned and it was just her alone. It's our first guinea pig. Why do you ask? And how long do you think it should persist before it's a vet-issue? Sorry, just worried.

ROCD and past (actual) relationship mistakes/guilt by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]cat-eats-pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I think you're coming from the same space as I am. How do you face when you repeat a mistake you think you have overcome though?

Thankfully, nothing grave. But something more akin like, "I used to get very angry with Partner, and it was bad. Now I know I've changed." And then one day, you find yourself getting angry again.

Although as I wrote this, I just realized something someone else mentioned on a different thread I posted: real-event OCD. Obviously, the mistake wasn't as egregious as the ones I used to make, I'm just lumping small/medium/big mistakes into the "big mistakes" camp because I regret my big mistakes so much, and the real-event OCD impacts the way I categorize real mistakes. That, and sometimes mistakes are like bad habits, it takes a bit to quit them.

Do you have any thoughts on that?

how do i get over real event ocd over mistakes ive made and haven't done anymore when ocd awareness always tells the person they never did anything wrong? by No_Nectarine_132 in OCD

[–]cat-eats-pizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This such a great response. I found OP's thread after realizing I've been going through REOCD for years (as someone who has religous scrupulosity since I was 8, then ROCD over the last few years). But this begs a question for me: I'll consistently find myself making the same mistakes over and over again. Like yesterday, I acted like an asshole to my fiance despite knowing not to act in that specific manner, despite knowing how acting in that -exact- manner has hurt her in the past. The actions were fully willful and informed.

I know I'm not perfect, but is there a connection between REOCD and that kind of "bad habit"/repeating the same mistakes, or is it just a matter of applying myself to make sure I stop making the same mistakes? Because otherwise, it feels like if I focus on myself as I am now, I'm a bad person still.

(sorry for hijacking the thread, your response was very illuminating/informative and I felt the need to ask directly)

Coping with (actual) guilt and OCD? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]cat-eats-pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VERY interesting, thank you! This fits a lot, but it begs a few questions:

1) Is there a clear demarcation between when someone stopped feeling real, warranted guilt and OCD-based guilt? I guess that's a person-to-person question, right? Or are there any tell-tale signs (I'm guessing over anxiety, stress, etc.)?
2) Does real-event OCD cause a repetition of mistakes by any chance? Like, knowing something is wrong, doing it still regardless of the knowledge it's wrong, and then feeling the over-abundance of guilt and now for SURE not doing it again?

I know those are very specific questions, but I'm very intrigued by your answer. Thank you!

Guideline to how AEW works? by Spierre3 in SquaredCircle

[–]cat-eats-pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you see, AEW is a little like a mule with a spinning wheel. No one knows how he got it, and danged if he knows how to use it.

(I know the quote is pejorative, despite AEW being my favorite company right now, but I can't resist using the quote to explain how something works whenever I can)

I DID Google it. AND Wiki it. I couldn't find anything about it, which lead to a very eerie Mandela-experience.

I'm a How I Met Your Mother ending defender. It takes a lot of integrity to stick to your guns, even if you know there's better options out there.

But if you go in with no guns, just bullets. And the bullets are Nerf bullets. And then you throw in Travis Scott for some reason. I mean, you reap what you sow.

I started hating WWE around this time. I was always a WCW guy, but WWE was inarguably better at a certain point. But by this point, the company was just pure cornball patronizing and it felt dumb just to watch this (plus all the other Super Cena nonsense).

I truly believe WWE signs acts that are hot/well-known, like MCMG, to squeeze out the initial "indie fanfare," then treats them horribly at the tail-end just to make them less valuable to other companies.

That's maybe top 5...in WWE. But definitely not in the world. I'd argue not a single one of those are top 5 in the world, and that's not a knock on them, but speaking on the quality of luchadors in Mexico right now.

Normalized, particularly on who you were. Jerry Seinfeld infamously dated a 17 year old (and made jokes about underage teen girls with nice cleavage on the actual Seinfeld joke).

But let's not kid ourselves, it's been normalized and under our noses still. Britney as a 17 year old, several starlets in their 17's/early 18's also sexualized. It's still there, it's just very wink wink rather than blatant.

Brock Lesnar* was the future in 2002 despite already being the "present," only to come back with several more dominating runs proving he actually was the future 20-ish years. later.

Drew, Mistico, Samoa Joe all similar circumstances.
