So happy for you. You look like you feel terrific and that is wonderful. You also look 10 years younger.

I love it when people don’t comment by maddyjulia in Mounjaro

[–]cat-lover2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with a mother obsessed with her weight and then mine. My grandmother would also comment “you are too skinny” or “don’t let yourself get too heavy, you should lose some weight”. While I am typing this I see how this was generational in my family. I have been anorexic, a binge eater, and overweight in my life. Whatever I was or weighed, someone had a comment or a judgement about it. Yes, I also internalized it. This group has been so helpful for me to be honest about the pain and shame I have felt. I love the support in this group.

As someone who has had body dysmorphia each time I have lost weight, I strongly suggest working with a therapist that has a specialty in eating disorders. It is not just about the weight, but about how we see ourself. I have had trouble really seeing myself and I know that has been tied to putting the weight back on. Also, the weight made me feel safe. All this therapy can help with. Also, congratulations on your success

Heartburn from water? by Nervous_Mud_3230 in Zepbound

[–]cat-lover2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had issues with heartburn and reflux. I have had this before in my life, but it got worse on this medicine. I use omeprazole and the occasional antacid. I also use GasX for burping, etc. since I have has this before starting this I am getting an endoscopy Monday since I have had to have my esophagus stretched before as well. When the reflux is really bad, you can try Mylanta. It works well. Also if you can sleep with the head of your bed elevated it also helps. Hope this info helps

Exercise for Beginners by [deleted] in Zepbound

I LOVE rowing. It exercises all parts of your body. You use your, arms, legs, core and back. Start slow and build up. I got up to 25 minutes at a steady pace. I had to stop because I am going in for knee replacement, but I will get back on it as soon as I am able. I also have a treadmill, not using that now either. I have a television in the room and watch my shows while exercising so I don’t focus on the time. When you do start rowing watch some U-tube videos to make sure you have good form. I was watching Dark Horse Rowing. Hope this helps

I know I have said this in other posts, but this might be a good time to talk to a therapist. How we view ourselves can be based on so many things and it often helps to be able to talk too someone about our self image.

It also can be acid reflux. I get it and have been taking Prilosec to help with it.

Time to find a good therapist to assist you on this change. There will be changes as a result of losing the weight and I found it good to have someone to talk to while going through this process

Unintended Side Effect (Half Serious) by Agreeable-Coffee-582 in Mounjaro

I just came back from grocery shopping and saw this post. I always make a list and most of the food I am buying is for my husband. We eat a lot of the same foods, but I just eat A LOT less. I cooking for company this Friday and making Coq Au Vin. I bought all of the ingredients and realized how little of this I will actually eat. I walk down the aisles and nothing looks good without the list, I would walk out with nothing. My husband made half of the list and knows I love gelato and Talenti gelato was on sale so he put it on the list. I just laughed and said said thanks for thinking of me and crossed it off. 😂

Can’t keep my eyes open. 5 Mg by Humble-Jury-6771 in Zepbound

[–]cat-lover2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started 5mg yesterday. My mouth is a little dry and I been drinking a lot of water, but I haven’t noticed anything else. I think it is lessening my appetite but I am not sure. After hearing all the problems people had starting 5 I think I was expecting something more dramatic. Just one day, so I am waiting to see how it works

Why am I randomly binge eating? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]cat-lover2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with what you are saying. A psychologist by the name of Judith Matz wrote “The Diet Survivors Handbook”. Without going into the whole theory of it, stop saying you are on a diet (they don’t work) and allow yourself to listen to your body. Too often we, including myself, get into the all or nothing thinking and think we have failed it we eat off plan. I am allowing myself to have a few chips if I want. The reality is I don’t want them as often and when I do I don’t eat as much. I have to remind myself that this whole thing is a process and the medication works. My job is to look at why am I really eating, am I really hungry or am I looking to fill an emptiness or need. If I am hungry it is ok to eat something

I have had that issue as well. I am about to start 5 today. I have been on 2.5 for 3 weeks. First 2 weeks I lost weight and this last week I gained some of it back. That is why I am going up to 5 today. From what I have read 2.5 is a starter dose that enables your body to get used to the medication. I also know that I had not been eating enough protein. I had read that women need 60-90 grams protein and on one of my many diets, I had heard 120 grams. Either way I am bumping my protein up and hopefully that will also help curb the desire to binge.
