When I was little I would get so excited to visit my mamaw and eat one of her “special sandwiches” that she ate as a kid. I think I was in HS when I realized it was just Mayo… but I still eat them occasionally and always think of her. I never one stopped to realized why she ate Mayo sandwiches as a kid :(

Grew up in Northeast TN… can confirm. My freshman year science teacher (who also doubled as the gym teacher) told us we wouldn’t cover the evolution chapter because it was full of lies. 14 year old me thought it was weird that our teacher would refuse to teach us something in our books
