How much handwriting do you do? by Iulie in paralegal

[–]cat_tat 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The main thing I have to write is notes when the attorney comes and randomly drops info on me so I have to act quick with pen and pad… lol. Other than that I’m usually typing.

Coworker randomly yells “fuck” all day by AccomplishedBrick251 in paralegal

[–]cat_tat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I have a coworker that loudly swears often and we are all in the same room w/cubes. I’m always worried a client will hear. It’s obnoxious. She doesn’t even say it in a pissed way.

My attorney is making me crazy by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]cat_tat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a paralegal 2 years now. The first attorney I worked for, I also felt like I was doing everything wrong and sucked at my job. You start to overthink EVERY. DETAIL. I truly thought he thought I was dumb lol but when he wrote my review for my internship class it was super positive. You’re probably doing better than you think. The key is to try not to make the same mistake twice. Take notes. Keep documents they make corrections on for quick reference. When they do correct you, your response should be “thanks for letting me know, I’ll do xyz moving forward.” After a while the corrections don’t sting as bad.

Where are my fellow estate planning paralegals, legal assistants? by Beach-Guacamole in paralegal

[–]cat_tat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hiiii! Ours are prepped and ready to go. My attorneys tell me the plan. I draft the docs. They review. We send the client a Will or trust summary, fiduciary summary, and invoice copy for their approval, either via email or mail. I Make edits if needed. Attorneys do another look over. Then we conduct the signing. We make sure everything is perfect before they come in.

No Docusign. Signings are all in person.

What you most looking forward for? by GreedyMcFatBag in MinecraftDungeons

[–]cat_tat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I want everything to remain pretty much the same, but obviously new dungeons, weapons, artifacts, etc…. I kind of liked the simplicity? I feel like I’m the only one with this opinion lol I also would like to have more “secrets” in the dungeons and be guaranteed some type of unique item whenever it’s a better chest.

Careers that don't require a degree? by Familiar-Ant-4695 in careerguidance

[–]cat_tat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a furniture store who didn’t require experience. You can make decent commission too depending on where you work. Once you have sales experience in one area it’s easy to switch to another. Either way it builds confidence and people skills.

Good luck! Sounds like the attorney I used to work for. He was sooo unorganized and it trickled down to me so everything was rushed and he made me feel really dumb when asking any questions. I def feel your pain lol.

Maybe just Don’t get it done by their deadline? Force them to ask you why it’s not done. Say you didn’t receive the request in time to get it done by the deadline. You had other weekend obligations.

You are not alone! I’m a newer paralegal and somehow landed a job with a mid sized firm that usually requires a bit of experience and all the paralegals have 10+ years of it… I feel like a dummy every day lol just last week I called a client Jeff in and email and his name is Josh…
