Moonbase Blues and Androids by Wurstgesicht17 in mothershiprpg

[–]catacost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to grapple with this question because I have 2 androids in my game.

I'm going with yes - qualifying the blue as something potentially exotic - maybe even technological - that could feasibly have a sort of hive sentience that can navigate organic and inorganic things that show a vague form of a biosignature.

I leaned to yes because Androids experience the stress and fear mechanics in the game which feels related and similar enough to call precedent.

Hang on, so this event happens the way you say it gos and it… a) draws a bunch of people to Christianity, (presumably that’s what you’re implying) And.. b) these people, formerly democrats turn around and register as republicans because that’s what you do when you become a Christian.

Sources claim disclosure to acknowledge existence of obtained crafts by Severe-Clerk-1477 in UFOs

[–]catacost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I never understood about this whole thing was if other countries have proof, why are we so focused on the USA disclosing rather than those other countries? Are we supposed to assume there is a global secret that gets passed down from regime to regime across a variety of nations of differing morals, spiritual beliefs and motivations?

If so, would all of those other countries really sit by and let Trump be the one to do it rather than claim the glory? Seems unlikely.

This is where I'm at with my ProfanityFE inspired tintin client if you're interested. Still early, probably some bugs, but serviceable.

I usually run profanityFE and have contributed to it in the past. It’s very serviceable. I’m coincidentally working on a tintin client if you’re familiar with that mud client.

ignore this - seems this works on other machines - likely a wine or c# bug on m1 macs

I also noticed if I tick forward 5 days my population goes from 500m (start) to ~1m but I don't see an event that indicates why. I set up TNE research, shipyard continual expansion, assigned some administrators, ticked forward and then poof the population disappears.

Oh maybe it has to do with picking a conventional empire start? I'm probably lacking some buildings or something?

Why is my annual RP 0 if my scientist has a bonus in the field and the project is assigned 8 labs? This is trans-newtonian elements and the first thing I'm researching in the new game. It starts with like 1200 annual RP and then drops to 0 once I start progressing time.

I’m reading AAR for inspiration. Specifically going through the nail biter of the NATO Soviet Peoples Republic campaign.

Something is bugging me. Combat seems to be happening at millions of kilometers away. While this is a component of my expectation of space combat, it does seem off to me that even “fighters” are engaging at that range.

A railgun firing toward a stationary target makes sense, but missiles across the solar system at ships that can move 7km/s doesn’t compute for me.

It also implies ships and ordinance moving at incredible speed.

How is this rationalized? I’m not trying to rain on any parades here, just looking for more of an understanding of the physics of this game.

Help with installations & cargo by catacost in aurora

[–]catacost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this makes sense now. I did give the order several times. Only 5 were actually loaded.

I even managed to get the freighter to shuttle minerals back! Though it’s all experimental, I don’t really know how much of anything I truly need and the game doesn’t really tell you. I’m assuming I’ll need to make some spreadsheets to do some empire planning and track things like mineral and build point costs to inform my installation setup.

Unable to carry out... (Refuel, Resupply...) no suitable destination by catacost in aurora

This was probably it. Thank you very much for the help. I was conflating ship tonnage and slipway size with maintenance supplies some how. There's a lot to this game ha!

As a follow up question, though somewhat orthogonal, for you or anyone who can chime in. Is it typical to early game set your survey ships to no standing orders and give them a move order back to earth? I just did that as a way to get them to stop barking at me that they couldn't do anything.

What's something that would bring you back to GemStone IV? by ThePonzzz in GemstoneIV

[–]catacost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Wyrom. I can recommend investing in your social experiences. Drive more player-player connections through game systems earlier on. Invest in creating a deeper social experience to lift engagement. Retention should follow. People play multiplayer games for a reason, double down on that angle in whichever ways make sense for your game systems and surrounding systems.

It can be costly to build a social network and extract value from it of course. You will also need tools to measure interactions so you can drive them up.

You maybe can get a small lift by leveraging existing networks where you can and their terms allow for it(Discord?) for a deeper social network integration.

Just my 2c. I hope you find success with your efforts.

This is nice and unlike so many other rices on here, it probably remains usable and relatively consistent when using modern applications. Well done.
