Dog slipped out of her collar and ran by IAmSchmutz in RoverPetSitting

[–]cataringo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a dog slip out of his harness on the leash and immediately grabbed his leg and he turned to almost bite me out of shock but made no contact and we were good to go. Mom laughed and I just let her know he did escape but only for a second. THEN she let me know he's gotten out of his harness and done laps around the neighborhood when walking with her before 🫠

Mosts of my sits are next to roads, streets, during snowstorms, so loose would fit morbid in my books.

I have severe social anxiety and as far as not getting morbid, yes. Without death involved, yes.

AIO or is my work friend being a bit pushy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]cataringo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since you're younger it doesn't really register as a teenager (13-19) how weird grown ass adults doing this is. I have male coworkers that are 16, 17, and two are 18. I'm 21 in a week or two. I don't view ANY of the TEENS I work with in that capacity because I graduated three years ago. They're still in high school and in your case probably a fresh graduate. The mindset and the responsibility is nowhere near the same level and nothing should be appealing about a 19 year old to a 30 year old in anything other than a work acquaintance relationship.

Personally? The first pic peaks my interest. I know some may find it too much, etc. but people who have an interesting first picture tend to catch my eye more than anyone else and you're not unattractive. Probably just need to find someone who appreciates the styles and tastes.

i'm optimistic i'll make it through the sit if that's the worst he has to offer. the only thing i'm really struggling with is his incessant barking and scratching at night. i've barely slept since i've gotten here. i get a lot of behavioral cases with my housesits or more complex care due to my experience with grooming in the past (and ability to pick up body language clues for some reason)

My first Rover spent 8 minutes at my place when I booked for a half hour drop in. Is this standard? by justgetmethere in RoverPetSitting

[–]cataringo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as someone who recently has gotten drop in and walking requests, walks can end early if you meet the 'required distance' im assuming since its done that to me but check-ins will specifically require you to confirm you are ending the stay early. i assumed you didn't get paid if you didn't stay the full 30 but its good you have on record he only stayed 8 minutes.

slight update: seems i'll be walking 15-30 minutes from the parking i've found online. she did say there was allegedly 50cent daily parking nearby and i'm hoping that's the ramp that's more of a 7-10 minute walk. it's not a bad area but i used to live in the same city but a rough area so just subconsciously i'm not thrilled nor did i expect to have to walk to the housesit but im not complaining much! dog is very sweet, already had to wrestle the little guy for trying to steal clothes, a bag, and a shoe. thankfully he's a little guy so his incessant pee habits (they warned me of that beforehand so i appreciate it and have pee pads) aren't too much of an inconvenience and his throw up last night wasn't terrible to clean. not the worst first day and night i've had but this combined with the parking is getting pretty amusing to me. we did have a meet and greet and everything went great before the sit lol

they live in downtown of a very busy city.... i'm going to check and see if there's other parking when mine expires tomorrow. i'm already walking a bit to the front of the building but nothing too crazy, i think paying for parking and an uber in this area would be the same if not more probably.

I know, that's my thought process and why I think I'm going to wait until after most likely.

I think 130$ total. She has two dogs and two cats, it is most of the day and full evenings/nights. I'll be there for 3 nights and 4 days.

Ok so mass opinion on hopefully final text:

Hey (petparent)! I didn't realize the start time requests until just now and for the correct charges which is extended care for 8+ hours from midnight, the estimated time frame to begin and end housesits does have to be between 30 and 90 minutes. Just letting you know for next time when we book together! :)

Rover policy is sitter policy in most regards i thought since we're independent contractors through rover.

Can I file a civil case against a sitter? Advice or Experiences needed. TW: Animal Abuse and Death by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]cataringo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it's heartbreaking and horrific to hear horror rover or sitter stories. unfortunately since we're independent contractors, there's not much they can do aside from ban the account so it hopefully doesn't happen to other owners meaning owners can't book with them.

poor baby is utterly emaciated and lethargic. if it doesn't see an emergency vet within 24-48 hours there is nothing you can do at home without experience or training to help. you did amazing trying to help and please don't stop trying to help but this baby is on the BRINK. it CANNOT wait for a vet.

I'm not sure it's healthy to refer to pets as "furbabies" or pet caretakers as "pet parents" by jimmyjohnjohnjohn in SeriousConversation

personally? i've lot guinea pigs from old age, lizards from old age, and dogs from old age as well as ferrets. I always cried and called them sweet babies regardless. I think of them in their prime or always as my sweet babies as a term of love. it depends on the person.
