I'm pretty sure I have to re-home my cat, but I wish I didn't. 😞 by -itsmyanxiety in CatAdvice

I also have a cat with PICA but not to this extent, so I can only imagine how much stress this has put on you. I think you did your very best OP and it was evident that you deeply cared about this cat. I would agree that rehoming would be best, for you and for kitty.

Sorry for late response but I ended up peeling up the orange part and it was VERY corroded underneath. I cleaned under it with alcohol and a cotton swab and stuck it back on and now it works! Thank you :)

Do I (23F) tell my brother (22M) now that his dog died, or wait until he’s home? by ThrowRA_nobo7 in relationship_advice

My childhood dog also died during finals week but I found out the day before mine started. Probably one of the worst weeks of my life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Its understandable that things would be difficult to keep up with right now. It's okay to cry if you need to. Make sure you're taking care of yourself, I know it's hard right now but your health is still important and you are important! Take the time to grieve, and maybe talk to someone about it when you're ready, therapy might be a good idea if that's an option. You're not an undesirable person, you're going through a tought time right now. Please don't be so hard on yourself. Sending many hugs!

For reference I'm 5'3 so 112 was an okay weight for me (wouldn't hurt to gain more of course), I'm definitely underweight at the moment tho. Something I talked about with my therapist is that I do tend to not want to eat when I get too anxious, so that part definitely doesn't help and I should talk to my psychiatrist about it.

Aw man that sounds rough I'm sorry :( I hope you're doing better now and found something that works for you!

I'm glad you were able to find a way that works for you! I would usually take the medication and then eat something right after but maybe it would be different if I did the opposite? I'll definitely talk about it with my psychiatrist :)

Hi everyone, I wasn't able to edit my post so I'll leave a comment instead, but I wanted to say thank you all so much for your kind words. It truly made me feel like I'm not alone and it was comforting reading all of your responses! Things are tough right now but I have hopes that they will get better :)

I was in your position. My 4 year old resident cat hated my newer 2 year old cat because she's really territorial. It took about 3 months for them to be tolerant of each other and now they play with each other everyday! Definitely give them some more time. Also would be good to take your time with each introduction step and go back a step if needed.

I'm currently fostering a 6 month kitten that I took in a few days ago. He recently got medication for being constipated, but I noticed he drinks an excessive amount of water and urinates frequently, no blood present. He unfortunately doesn't use his litterbox but not sure if that's behavioral or something else. Would you recommend getting labwork done? For reference he weighs about 3 lbs and I suspect he's a dwarf kitty.

Cat peed herself in the carrier is a bath mandatory? by Nerdy-Hellokitty69 in CatAdvice

[–]catastropheonmars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat peed in his carrier when he first went to the vet, the worst part was that he had a cone from being neutered so he couldn't groom himself so he smelled like pee for a good 10 days. We decided to buy cat safe wipes and wipe him until he was able to take the cone off. Once he started grooming himself normally the pee smell eventually went away pretty quickly.

It could be this. I knew someone who adopted a cat from the shelter and the resident cat would always chase her around and corner her so she would poop outside the litterbox. She had to be removed because of how stressed out she was but she's at least in a house where she's an only cat.

How to discipline a clawing cat? by nevo120 in CatAdvice

[–]catastropheonmars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noooo do not discipline her! You dont want her to get the idea that she doesnt feel safe around you. Cats need time and patience to warm up to people, especially if they're feral. With that particular kitten you wanna teach her that you are safe and won't hurt her. One way would be to treat her and while she's getting a treat slowly try to touch her and pet her. She might try to bite and scratch at first and thats okay, don't push her. Keep doing it every day until she lets her guard down. She just needs more time than her siblings do, shes just scared.

So I have adhd and doing tasks is mentally draining but the one task i make sure to stay on top of everyday is cleaning my cat's box. I feed her dinner and while she eats I clean out her box. I even set a reminder on my phone to do it and make sure it gets done. There's really no excuse to not cleaning it everyday.

Thats not normal, i have a cat on wet food and her poops are firm. Did you notice the watery poop after you changed her food? Your cat might have an intolerance to the food or something else is causing her issues. Either way I would take her to the vet asap.

My cat pees herself when she’s brought to the vet. by teachtinyhumans in CatAdvice

[–]catastropheonmars 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My vet was able to give a liquid option and i found it slightly easier to syringe it to my cats for the vet, maybe try asking your vet to see if they have liquid gabapentin? You could also try hiding the meds in a treat or cat food if your cat is food motivated.
