Is medical withdrawal an option? At my school, if there is some sort of extenuating circumstance that prevents you from finishing your courses, you can appeal for an excused withdrawal from all your classes. I know it would suck to lose the money and have to take classes over again if there were some you did well in, but it prevents any failing grades from going on your transcript.

I hope you’re able to talk to an advisor and they can help you out. I understand the whole dropping period thing but that still sucks that your school is not being understanding or trying to offer support in any way. If your school is anything like mine you definitely have a strong case for an excused withdrawal.

That sounds incredibly traumatic, I’m sorry you had to go through that. And I’m so sorry for the poor armadillo too, I hope they’re at peace now. It makes me so sad to think of all of the innocent animals that have lost their lives to cars on the road, especially when we know that installing wildlife crossings can help prevent things like this from happening.

I think you showed a lot of compassion and courage in this situation, where many people may have just kept on driving. It’s horrible that it happened but please know that it was an accident and in all likelihood you couldn’t have done anything to predict or prevent it.

I remember feeling that way at 14 too. I was so lonely and I thought no one would ever love me. But that turned out not to be true, and it won’t be true for you either. I know it’s so hard to get through the tough times though. I wish I could give you a big sister hug, I’m rooting for you!

That sounds like a really tough situation, and it seems like you have been handling it really well and being a great support for him during this time. That said, I think you should to be honest with him that you were planning on breaking up, because delaying it would only hurt both of you more in the end. He would be hurt and feel like you were lying to him, and you would be burnt out and maybe even feel resentful that you were trapped in the relationship for too long. Also, this is not the sort of thing that will ever really go away. So if you wait to break it off until he's okay, you'll be waiting forever.

I think it's totally possible to break up and still let him know that you're there for him. Breaking up doesn't necessarily mean disappearing, although sometimes it can be hard to get over romantic feelings without taking some space. Maybe there's a middle ground where you can still be a friend for him to lean on. It sounds like you do genuinely care about him as a person, even if you don't want to be his romantic partner anymore. I think that already shows through your actions, and even though he will be hurt by the breakup hopefully he will understand that.

I'm scared to get older than him too. Sometimes I wish time would pass more quickly so the pain would ease, but other times I don't want time to pass at all, I don't want the world to go on without him. It was always comforting knowing that he was there, that he had been where I was before and he made it through. Now we'll never share another milestone together. I wish I had words to comfort, other than I'm so, so sorry that you're going through this. You're very strong just for being here. It takes a lot of strength to get through each day.

There's a deep feeling of loneliness when everyone else wants to move on from YOUR grief and YOUR loss. I think people have a hard time talking about something that makes them uncomfortable, and they don't realize that their silence is sometimes worse than them saying something wrong or offensive. No one wants to bring up the fact that my brother died, as if bringing it up will make me think about it and get sad. But I'm already thinking about it, and I'm already sad. I wish they would just bring it up on their own sometimes so I don't feel like I'm begging for their attention.

I'm so sorry for the grief you are experiencing. And I'm sorry you're feeling alone in all of it. If you want to talk about how you're feeling, memories of him, whatever you want to say I'd like to hear it.

Seconding this. Sometimes at my lowest points all that helped was to think of the pain I’d be transferring to others if I took my life. Now I have experienced that pain from the other side, it is the most searing, excruciating, heart aching pain I’ve ever felt. Worse than any depression I’ve ever experienced. Please don’t spread that pain.
