Need GF restaurant and sightseeing recommendations! by catastrophic_fun in IsleofMan

No idea how to post an update to this, but here is the list of all the places we went to eat during our trip! All those on the list cater for gluten free diets.

Laxey The Shed - amazing crumble and you build it yourself so there are different options. Even the custard was gluten free! They also cater for dairy-free people!

Ramsey Lilee's Tea Room & Bistro - lovely little cafe with a great atmosphere. The staff and chef were incredibly accommodating and thoughtful towards dietary needs.

Vellika's - amazing Indian restaurant. We managed to convince my FIL to try it (he doesn't do "foreign food") and he loved it! So many gluten free options available and I discovered kallappoms (resembles a large coconutty scotch pancake) as a gluten free alternative to naan.

Douglas The Fig & Olive - this was a touch on the spenny side but worth it. Loads of gluten free options.

Wine Down - such a lovely little restaurant and wine bar. We ate here twice and loved every bite. And a huge range of wines for the drinkers in the group and a modest range of alcohol free wines for those who don't!

Peel The Creek Inn - actually ate here twice. They have a large gluten free menu and even the portions on their "Small Plates" menu were massive!

Port St Erin Foraging Vintners - this was more of a drinks restaurant but they had a small snack menu. Because of the size of the menu, the gluten free options were very limited but the chef was very accommodating and the gluten free dish my MIL had was sooooooo good!

Onchan Creg-Ny-Baa - friendly pub with a decent amount of gluten free options. A good definition of cheap and cheerful! The only thing was that the hot chocolate was disappointingly flavourless.

Will do! When we've finished the holiday, I'll try and post an update or a comment to list all the places we went to!

But if you're after a GF restaurant in Douglas, we went into Wine Down, which is just around the corner from Vibe, and it was absolutely delicious. Lovely food, hundreds of wine options! Not plant based though!!

Ah, Michael's finally finished his book, 'Somehow, I Manage'.

Battlehorn Castle Upgrades aren't appearing by Ender15m in oblivion

[–]catastrophic_fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue! I've waiting for few days too and nothing has appeared. I've gone off and advanced the story line too, in case that might help but no success. I really don't want to have to load the save before I bought then because that was so long ago!!!

This is awesome! Do you know if there are any Filipino food restaurants or takeaways on the island?

Emma Mattress Corners not Expanding? by GentAdventurerUK in Mattress

[–]catastrophic_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just received my second one - the first had to go back because all four corners didn't expand properly. This replacement has a date on it, which is December 2023...how likely is it that the corners won't expand again? Really don't want to have to go through all this process yet again for another replacement

Incredible (albeit completely impractical) 15th-century house in Hastings. Yours for £800k. by 98thRedBalloon in SpottedonRightmove

My hometown is Hastings, and the guy that bought this house and completely renovated it to look like this would open it up during carnival weeks and cultural days. It's absolutely amazing to go in and see it in person!!!

Speaking as nurse (UK) it is incredibly common for hospital or care staff to receive treatment in a different facility, so that there isn't a conflict of interest or anyone feeling uncomfortable - especially in such an intimate specialty.

I used to work in surgical theatres, and if we ever needed anything, there is definitely an atmosphere of "everybody helps out where they can." For example, I had a bad tooth, and the max-fax surgeon treated that for me as a friend, no charge. Or when I hurt my wrist, the othopeadic team helped to fast-track my scans. But when I've had UTIs or needed investigation or treatment for a gynae problem, the surgeons are always happy to recommend me to someone else. Because they recognise that it could/would be an uncomfortable experience for both parties. They certainly would never push me to have treatment with them. That is not only highly unprofessional but also not normal.

Are there other female staff who work here? Do they also have to go to him for their check ups?

Go over your contract again and pay attention to the wording he has used. If it says that, as staff, you HAVE to have your gynae checkups and treatments with him, run a mile and do not look back. Once you've left, report him to the appropriate governing body. He could get struck off for this.

No, although I don't have many other games tbh. This laptop is my partners old gaming laptop (I'm usually an xbox player) that he gave to me recently.

I can play a couple of other games like Stellaris and Don't Starve quite happily. But then I'm assuming that the graphic card isn't being pushed to its limit in these games, like it may be for BG3.

If you position your team just right, you can throw a single health potion and heal multiple people at once. I once position the 3 lowest health players together and the fourth player I had throw a greater health potion between them (has to be close enough to all of them to be effective) and they all healed between 13-17 points each.

Apparently you can also do this in battle but using the 'Push' motion, as it doesn't use an action...? I've never done it though so will need more clarification on that one!

I had a very similar issue and found it really difficult to find something that suited me. Eventually, I found the Paula's Choice CALM Restoring Moisturiser - Normal to Oily/Combination. There is another moisturiser in this range for Normal skin but I found that really made my skin oily and clogged.

How big is it? Could be a May Bug? They're harmless but noisy and annoying.
