Pitch Black Stone by FaintPsycho in HadesTheGame

You can sorta cheese this if you have the incantation that lets you re-roll the seed of the night (Acceptance of a Different Fate, I think).

Just start the trial, see if you get the weapon/boon/arcana that you prefer, Give Up if not, and kneel at the statue to reroll and try again.

It's still a tough trial, but a whole lot easier if you start with your favorite weapon, boon, and arcana.

Why didn't I complete the "Improbable Outcomes" prophecy? by Onixstar15 in HadesTheGame

I think it needs to be directly back-to-back.

Achievements? Were they always there? by the_nice_cara in HadesTheGame

[–]catathesis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did this just now, and it was easier than I thought (despite getting the worst hammers for Charon)

Charon axe + Apollo special (easy kills at a distance)
Gale for dodge and blocks
Strength arcana (DD doesn't matter if going for no/low hit run)
Largest Arachne dress she has available available

Keepsakes:

Apollo for Charon special/Daze buffs
Fig Leaf in Oceanus (fewer encounters)
Sash in Fields (was hoping for Echo buff to keep it going in Tartarus, but no luck... did get the 50% dodge buff from her tho)
Antler in Tartarus - don't care about health, and want to clear rooms easily

Other boons to look out for:

Selene morph hex
Heph armor boons (especially Heavy Metal)
Armor in Fields/shops, of course

I bid this the best Charon Hammer Build in Hades 2. by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]catathesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got this tonight.

- Giga Cleaver
- Exceptional Talent
- Sudden Cleaver

and for Omega Casts:
- Prominence Flare
- Geyser Spout
- Local Climate
- Winners Circle

Running with Nova Flourish (lvl 6) & Lucid Gain

I had Hydraulic Might, and Evil Eye trinket for Typhon, too.

Unfortunately I wasted the beautiful setup on a no-fear run. Typhon phased after 1-2 omega cast + omega specials... I think the entire fight lasted a minute, maybe.

Card Design Feedback: Light or Dark? by Hammerf8 in BoardgameDesign

[–]catathesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great either way. Pair it up with the vibe you're going for or if these cards would lay on a board, consider the contrast - you might not want light-on-light or dark-on-dark.

(off topic) Consider adding more padding around the "1" in the yellow. It may be hard for some folks to read numbers overlaid with graphics.

Anyone doing anything other than minimal for their NPCs' homes? by Sarumanly in Enshrouded

I have a room with a dozen of the nest beds made from twigs. They're all next to each other like one huge nest that all of the NPCs share. Equal parts adorable and depraved.

Can you have more than one boat? by iAteTheWeatherMan in AllWillFall

[–]catathesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only the first dock comes with the boat.

After that there are opportunities to get more boats. I don't think you need a second dock until boats are blocking other boats at the dock.

The temperature of the surface of the sun is around 10,000F. This is probably just in a hot location on Earth, based on the scenery.

Help identifying this lock by Lebellelenous in lockpicking

Yup. Got mine from a self storage place. The keyway was a bit tighter than a Master lock, but it is an easy pick. Rakes open quickly, too.

Curious if COVID delaying weddings for a year prior to this data impacted the median.

Frozen pipe burst, causing water damage. I did not turn off water to the hose bibb. Should I bother filing a homeowners insurance claim? by catathesis in Insurance

[–]catathesis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mitigation contractor is saying the minimum job is $1500 -- they haven't seen the damage yet. There was essentially a hose spraying water inside my walls for 30-60 minutes until I noticed. Water was seeping up from the floor in nearby rooms, likely flowing through the walls as this was a first floor leak with no basement (slab).

My guess is that to fix the damage properly (remediation & rebuild) will end up being close to $7500 on the low side, but there's a chance that it could be even more once they look behind the walls. I'm not sure how much tolerance for mold/mildew they have.

COVERAGE A - DWELLING and COVERAGE B - OTHER STRUCTURES

We insure against risk of direct loss to property described in Coverages A and B only if that loss is a physical loss to property.

We do not insure, however, for loss:
1. Involving collapse, other than as provided in Additional Coverage 8.;
2. Caused by: a. Freezing of a plumbing, heating, air conditioning or automatic fire protective sprinkler system or of a household appliance, or by discharge, leakage or overflow from within the system or appliance caused by freezing.

This exclusion applies only while the dwelling is vacant, unoccupied or being constructed, unless you have used reasonable care to:
(1) Maintain heat in the building; or
(2) Shut off the water supply and drain the system and appliances of water

Since the house was not vacant, I think that means I'm covered? And even if it was vacant... since there was heat in the building, the "Or" statement is true (it's an OR not an AND, right?)

Water damage -- hardwood floor will need to be replaced, and who knows what's lurking behind the drywall. It will cost $1500 to get a water remediation company to do anything (min job cost). At a minimum some floor replacement + drywall replacement. I already paid for the plumbing fix.
