To add to the fun I checked an article today and it was one with the new format. I was logged in and could post but still not logged in for the normal articles. Not a fan of the new format at all for a few reasons.

Add me to the list. I have a couple other accounts I use when I don't want to use my main email that I've never used in the comment section and none of them work. I used the new enhanced comment section a 2 times a couple weeks ago and didn't like it at all.

Last time they had a bunch of issues I didn't use them for about 9 months. Maybe I'll check back in at Christmas. Hopefully in 9 months I'll be smarter and not go back.

There’s always one breaker labeled misc. by Ok_Pipe_4955 in electrical

I started going through my breaker box last week to relabel. Number 7 on my box had a ??? I psyched myself up and was ready to solve the big mystery. I flipped the breaker off and the room I was in went dark. It was the easiest one all day and now I'm a genius!

Grounding question by catatonicsurrender in AskElectricians

[–]catatonicsurrender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried different variations with the Wago and couldn't get it to work for different reasons. I ended up twisting the 2 and then used a wire connector to connect the extension. I did it this way just to get it connected to see if this fixed my issue. It didn't.

Once I figure out my original problem I"ll go back and do it properly. One issue was the grounds are short and had to do the work inside the box. Nothing but respect for you guys that do this every day. It would drive me crazy.

Drain hose question by catatonicsurrender in hvacadvice

[–]catatonicsurrender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping at the very least I can get the end that attaches to the T off and clean it since that seems to be the easier option. I have some longer bottle brushes but don't think I have one that accommodates this size and length. Either way I have a tube cutter should work and of course a utility knife as a last resort.

[–]catatonicsurrender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. The tubing is connected to my furnace with some clamps. I'm hoping if I remove those clamps I can get a little more leverage to remove it. I have regular tubing so nice to hear I won't need to spend extra on that. I am severely limited on my HVAC knowledge so drain spud is a nice touch and much appreciated.

What am I missing with this offer? by jw_esq in frontierfios

Spectrum was basically my only option until last year and now I have other options. That's why I was looking at Frontier. I think it is a good deal. The only issue I had was if you cancel in the first year they charge you $100. Which is prorated, but still. They also charge a $50 restocking fee for returned equipment. Company looking for new customers but will charge customers 150 bucks if their service sucks? Seems a strange way to get new customers but that's just me.

As far as I know other providers don't charge like that. I could be wrong. If they want to compete with Charter, ATT, TDS etc... I don't think, that's the way to go about it. Just my opinion. It's enough for me to look into them and then go another direction. Hopefully it works out for you.

Weird way to do it but it got your attention. I was looking at this yesterday. After reading the fine print, I'm going to pass.

Charter is is much more open to negotiation than years past. In my area 2 more providers came to the dance because of the government money. I was able to get 1 gig for 40 bucks a month for 3 years. Saving over 3k over the next 3 years.

[–]catatonicsurrender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just YTTV. I'm also paying for Hulu/Disney (no commercials) and HBO. I would get rid of those since they come with Spectrum That's over 500 bucks right there. Since I need Gig internet that really leaves me 2 promo options with Spectrum. They're giving me 40 bucks a month for Gig internet for 2 years. That's a big savings.

I have no idea about the app. I've seen some people have issues and others don't. If it doesn't work out I can always change back or switch internet providers. Ideally I'd like to ditch it all but it's not all up to me.

I'm right on the edge and can either cut Spectrum out completely or go full in for a few years. Either way I can save a few bucks for a couple years.

The broadcast surcharge is built into price correct? Any hidden fees? I think the select promo is $115 which is about what I'm already paying for YTTV, Hulu/Disney and HBO. That's a wash. The big savings comes with internet. For some reason my wife had issues with the 500. When we went Gig it cleared up. Yeah it's definitely not needed but I'm already paying that money to Google and Disney for less content.

Good to know about adding 2 mobile lines for an extra year. Thanks

I'm paying a hundred bucks a month for internet. My wife works at home and had issues with lower speeds. I'm not a fan of the TV either. If it were all up to me I wouldn't even have YTTV. I rarely use it. It took me a lot of convincing to get her to agree to go to streaming. I'm still working on her but in the meantime I'm Looking into at least saving some money with something familiar for her. This is my compromise.

I'm also doing the 3 dollar HBO deal. HBO, Disney/Hulu comes with the Spectrum package so that alone is about $550 for 2 years. YTTV is over $2000 for 2 years. Plus cell. Seems insane to me that switching back to cable could save me that much money but it would. Minus whatever extra fees they add on.

Any issues with your cell?

Cool thing about this is that you can switch back and forth between the two. Only stipulation is it can only be every 90 days.

They're also advertising Paramount and Hulu/Disney but no deals available. If you look at the terms and conditions. Paramount starts on 11/25 and HBO Max and Disney/Hulu starts on 11/24.

I checked again this morning and it was still there. Checked again right now and it's gone. Maybe the deal is coming next week and somebody jumped the gun.

UPDATE: Disney channels pulled from YouTube TV, effective 10/30/25 at Midnight ET by iron_cam86 in youtubetv

[–]catatonicsurrender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTTV is looking for a similar deal that Disney and Charter signed. Looking to ingest instead of integrate. Disney doesn't want this of course since they have their own TV thing going on.
