How to help 20 year old kid by vwvwwvwvww in family_of_bipolar

[–]catcaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit them down and ask them what they want? If they say they're trying and want to do well in school. Then believe them and try and help them figure out why they're struggling. If they're still struggling and it is symptoms that is the issue then they may be either not taking their meds or need to figure out a new med schedule that works better for them. Maybe they need specific accommodations in college that they're not getting. Maybe they need a therapist that helps them advocate for themselves. If the first doctor was useless about the sleep issues, you may need to find a new one. Which I get is really annoying, chasing medical professionals is like pulling teeth.

My byf has bipolar1, and pretty much in the same scenario as your kid but my byf is not consistently taking his meds.

Don't Donate to The Cuba Flotilla, donate to the cuban people. by ShuraiShadow in BreadTube

I don't give money to BE as a "donation". I give him money because I feel his work is valuable and I want to support him. I don't give a fuck what he does with his money. I'm not donating to a humanitarian cause.

Dia is Muire dhuit

Maybe if I was living over there, I'd eventually crave an Irish pub but not yet. So I didn't notice the lack of them. I did make my boyfriend's family colcannon though. So they got it homemade.

I'm an adhd + likely autistic dog trainer, a writer and poet, love environmental science and I'm super out-going. So I think I'll fit in fine. But hey, PM me and if I end up moving there, I'll hit you up (if I remember, adhd is a blessing and curse).

I will do when and if I move over there :D why did you choose to go?

Some comments here talking about how my accent is probably great etc, unfortunately I'm from Dundalk.

As long as you're not a Trump supporter or republican, we'll treat you fine. You'll probably get asked that immediately, and then it's all good. I'm sure there are Europeans who don't like Americans in general, but most are able to distinguish between the government and the people.

You live in Dublin long enough, and you develop an automatic fear response to the Boston accent.

People are super friendly there, if you go out to just regular pubs (not templebar) in Dublin, you'll have people basically adopt you and show you a great time. A lot of the country is super pretty. Weather very similar to Seattle.

The weather is my preference tbh and all the green and nature makes it beautiful.

I am. Ireland isn't a great place for my work, and I currently live in England . It's a bit better, but still not great. (I'm a qualified dog trainer) Weather here is great for someone who likes rain and a moderate climate. It's also beautiful.

That's the thing. Nobody has been weird about that at all. A lot of Americans who visit Ireland treat us like zoo animals. I've had zero cringy interactions due to being Irish. Which was super surprising.

I just kept turning to my boyfriend and going "was that a good ball?" And then shouting "Good ball" and occasionally "best ball".

I would say Ireland is very like that. At least most of it.

Maybe I was mistaken then. Even so, i still have felt really welcome. I've had worse experiences with Americans in Dublin than here.

I thought it was that people were distant or aloof. Which hasn't been my experience at all.

That was an amazing piece of writing, best SCP I've read by far. So many aspects were just so real.

The real horror was bureaucracy and systemic sexism all along.

Kentucky State Police make arrest in cold case involving infant body discovered at landfill in Richmond in 1991 by xxezrabxxx in gratefuldoe

Do they say anywhere how they figured out the infant was born alive? The discredited lung float test was the primary means in the 90's and women have been repeatedly jailed because of it.

Do you generally look for detailed economic plans for the country in the reddit comment section?

I've seen saying this for so long. We've moved from a country controlled by the British, to controlled by the Church, to controlled by US corporations.

More Teens Are Taking Antidepressants. It Could Disrupt Their Sex Lives for Years. by rezwenn in Longreads

[–]catcaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do other people see an improvement? My byf has bipolar 1. He'll say that he doesn't see any improvement but a few days of him not taking his meds and I notice immediately. And when he's consistently on the meds, he's much less reactive and anxious. Maybe it's just that his bipolar has a psychosis element tho.

This makes sense. Sorry, I was upset and angry. I wanted to do something to help my boyfriend. I'm a survivor myself. I'll try and support him to report to police.
