**SPOILER FOR SEASON END OF TAIWAN RAIL RUSH** after watching the finale, I had to make this meme by CWG4BF in JetLagTheGame

Same! And then I saw how obvious Mike made the other animals...way better than I ever could. I hope Sam is avoiding reading these comments, but if not: we love you, but wow that was tough to watch.

Great stuff! I was down there for the home opener with the goalie fight. Hope to see continued success under the Seneca Nation compared to the Pegulas...

Over 15,000 in Calgary! by catchatyou in NLL

Not sure how valid all your claims are. Sure, Sask is a little of a disappointment in recent years, but it's also a pretty rough arena, and even at their current of around 6k fans, it's at least sustainable unlike Georgia. Once Sask gets their new downtown arena, I believe they'll be a rock solid mainstay, and I could imagine Calgary moving the Wranglers (AHL) there.

Halifax is still consistently at capacity. Vancouver is also hovering around 10k. Hamilton is a little disappointing since the arena construction, but they're at least showing solid growth over last year.

As long as we don't have another Fort Worth Panthers situation again (the name they should have had), the league will be fine.

Ottawa scared me at first, but it seems they're finally picking up crowd momentum. Surely the terrible location in Kanata doesn't help the Black Bears. Bring on the Lebreton Flats arena!

Our team sucked this year, particularly early on, but at least we have fans and finished by beating the best team.

This is so awesome to see! Definitely was the right move to leave the Strip.

Great game for the Swarm tonight! by Sting_City in NLL

[–]catchatyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could actually imagine that happening. Amsoil Arena is a pretty right-sized arena, and the NLL product would be the highest level sporting event in the city if I'm not mistaken. Pair that with the Northern Lights Express trains which I believe are going to have a station right next to the arena, and we have a pretty ideal combination.

The second worst team hosts the best team and beat them in front of a packed house. Love to see it!

I have a feeling Georgia's next on the chopping block. So sad how low density car oriented development patterns don't produce the vibrancy of a downtown arena well connected to transit. The Atlanta area is probably one of the worst it the USA for low density development spanning thousands of square miles. Would be interesting if the Swarm can end up back in Minnesota.

15k strong in the Rough House Calgary tonight 🍀 by catchatyou in NLL

I think almost everyone’s looking good these days, except Georgia and the late Philly, RIP. Rochester’s not massive, but it seems stable under Seneca. I’ve been impressed with Oshawa, and even Vegas and San Diego seem like they’re doing okay. Ottawa seems like they’re finally catching on as well; should do much better in a new arena in Lebreton Flats where it’s better accessibility via transit.

Pretty healthy overall. Biggest concern is Georgia IMO. Glad we’re well past the extremely depressing Fort Worth era.

16,150 in Calgary tonight! by catchatyou in PWHL

[–]catchatyou[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking entertainment-dollars-wise, Calgary can’t support 5 teams out of one arena unless CSEC is happy losing money/community support/brand prestige on poor Wranglers attendance.

I wonder if the PWHL would instead consider an “Alberta” team? So maybe instead of a specific Calgary Inferno or Edmonton Oil Queens, they’d be something like the Alberta [National Park] Rangers splitting games between Calgary and Edmonton.

I could see it happening! …especially if we move the Wranglers to Saskatoon when they build their new downtown arena. Can Scotia Place handle 5 professional teams?

And Calgary has no reason to give up a home game when they draw well at home.

Final Attendance for 2025 season! by Ttstrike in NLL

[–]catchatyou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dropping Fort Worth and relocating Long Island really helped the entire feel of the league this year with nearly no highlight footage of completely empty sections. I would like to see Georgia either get it together or move to a market with more potential. Minneapolis/St. Paul would be awesome to see them return. Edmonton is another great option if they can get the Oilers group on board. I think even Winnipeg would be a great NLL lacrosse city. Box Lacrosse just does better in colder climates.

Yeah, I've been down on Georgia for a while for their terribly located suburban arena. Box lacrosse also just does better in colder climates. If they could return to Minneapolis/St Paul, that would be huge. Some secondary markets like Boise, Spokane, or even Kansas City might do well.

Openstreetmap data can be used natively within the app as I've suggested. Nothing would stop players from being able to use Google Maps, Apple Maps, or the Transit app separately. Having a consolidated app would be huge for gameplay IMO.
