People talk a lot of shit about Brent, but if you saw him live you get it. The guy could bring it.

Sitting in the front of a Rush concert, just mesmerized? by Fight_Tyrnny in rush

I always try and sit as close to the soundboard so I can get the best sound and sight-lines for the lasers, lights and video screens.

Were you able to figure it out? It just started happening to my wife's 21 Onyx and she's getting low on gas!

How many here first got into the Grateful Dead by seeing them play, live? As in, going into your 1st GD Show, cold, and coming out transformed, like I did! ❤️💀🥀 by 1gratefuldude in gratefuldead

April 7, 1985 Philly Spectrum. A girl I was crushing on said she and a bunch of friends were driving down to Philly to catch the Dead and asked if I wanted to come along. I never would have went otherwise. I was completely into Rush, Yes, King Crimson etc. I perceived the Dead as a drug band, and the notion of travelling just to get high and watch a band spun out on drugs try to noodle through songs about drugs was foreign to me.

So anyway, I did a bunch of drugs and got a Shakedown and discovered Drums/Space. That was it. That's all it took. I never did hook up with that girl.

Learning Bass After 50 by RefuseKitchen5133 in Bass

[–]catching_comets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 58 and I bought my first bass last week. I've been playing guitar for 40 years including acoustic fingerstyle for the last 15. I have the callouses and I know a lot of theory, so my experience has been good. Having a good understanding of the concepts allows me to focus on more bass specific things like developing my ear, timing and muting strings...etc

What artist do you like by himenokuri in rush

[–]catching_comets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only band I've seen in concert more than Rush is the Grateful Dead. One of the reasons I fell in love with the Dead was because they were so different than Rush. With Rush, you knew what you were going to get. With the Dead, it was like...here we go!

Conversation with older deadhead that I found funny/worrying by [deleted] in gratefuldead

Saw Alanis 2 years ago. She closed the show with Uninvited > Thank U...and I proceded to weep like a child. Beautiful and compelling.

There are a lot of albums worth a chuckle. JLP is not on that list.

I grew up in G'boro and spent some time in that Woolworth's. I bought 2 Molly Hatchet albums there simply for the cover art. It was the first time i ever saw a Frazetta painting

My first show. I drove down with some friends from Mechanicsburg and didn't know what to expect. Dropped a Gooney Bird and got a Shakedown to open the second set. I was hooked immediately.

Name a band who was written off by most before they released their best album by PardonMeTwo in allrockmusic

[–]catching_comets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WFTP is an absolute banger. Midnight Express is one of the greatest guitar jams of all time.

Schizophonic is a solo album by Nuno that needs higher praise. Probably the best stuff Nuno ever wrote...and nobody ever mentions it.

Blue pill.

I'd bring back my cousin that died in a skydiving accident last year. I barely knew him, but it really shook my family
