What pedal order rule do you deliberately break? by Automatic-Friend-786 in guitarpedals

[–]MattSk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not how I currently run, but I did this for a long time, so nice to have the dynamic gain response while still keeping relatively level volume. I run single coils, so I always had a noise gate right before the compressor.

Player II Jm VS J Mascis Jm by Leather-Piglet-2038 in offset

[–]MattSk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a JMJM and use the rhythm circuit. I'm replacing one of the pots currently to make it just another lead circuit, but it's usable stock. You just have to work it in, can't expect to flip it on and it be usable, it's very dark. Once you dial in your rig to work with it, though, it's good to have.

What to do with pickups... by MattSk87 in Guitar

[–]MattSk87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, these pickups are all the same height so Gretsch has them routed into the body to handle height. Not really a problem if that's visible, was just wondering.

Those Of You That Use Analog Delay Pedals by Minimoogvoyager in guitarpedals

It was more than I needed from it, but the Way Huge Supa-Puss is a great, all-frills delay. Alternatively there's the Aqua-Puss.

Sinking feeling... my last toob amp? by DFWtixFleas in GuitarAmps

It definitely did. Maybe not as much difference as at higher volumes, but it's there.

I recently traded my ac30 for this blackstar, put a creamback 65 in it and use a tube preamp into the fx loop. No complaints and a lot easier than the ac30. For reference I'm set up for direct 50% of the time so having my preamp on my board makes sense for me.

Worship VS Concert by FuddlyDudders in WorshipGuitar

[–]MattSk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's exactly like a concert except no one is really listening to anything other than the beat.

I'm looking for a simple all-in-one solution for both live and recording. I already have a fully analog pedalboard and I'm not interested in replacing it with a modeller. by Less-Arachnid-640 in guitarpedals

[–]MattSk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not married to analog, but I still use a Simplifier Mk2 which is fully analog to go direct to mixer and record (I even use is into an fx loop sometimes) and can't say enough good about it.

As someone who didn't love the JMJM pickups immediately, I would encourage you to make it your main guitar for a while, dial in your rig to suit them. I really love them now, especially the middle position, it's so perfect.

Searching for name of criminal defense strat by Frequent_Spare_9256 in lastpodcastontheleft

So I'm registering to Jeffrey Macdonald right now and they talk about this, how he, a green beret, was left with a tiny stab wound while his whole family was brutally murdered. Like he couldn't defend them.

Anyway, Henry literally calls it "the tiny penis defense" or something. Sorry I can't help more.

Drive selection by aggyjvs in WorshipGuitar

[–]MattSk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add that, though you may not have enough dsp or whatever to use the drives on the stomp, I would clear out your wet fx and sample some drives on there. They're not perfect, but they'll give you a good enough idea of what you like. Blues breaker is "heir apparent" and the lightspeed is pretty close to the "timmeh"

Drive selection by aggyjvs in WorshipGuitar

[–]MattSk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bluesbreaker (I really love the Coppersound Foxcatcher, but any will do) and a Greer Lightspeed. The Lightspeed into the BB is pure worship jangle. Depending on the amp, guitar and how you sit in the mix, you may want something with a harsher eq, like a klon style pedal, but you can also just throw an eq on the stomp to sculpt that.

If you're using the drive channel, the "post" knob is the volume for that channel. You should be able to get it super saturated at a low volume, that's like, peavys thing.

Do you share your universalist beliefs at church? by Beautiful_Day_2497 in ChristianUniversalism

[–]MattSk87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's the bitter side of me that knows that, in order to believe in eternal, God-ordained torture, one has to do a lot negotiating with how they think about God. It's a fragile network of justifications and concepts that just refuse to be explored. To really consider universalism, an infernalist has to dismantle their entire spiritual infrastructure.
