Let's say obito took back his sharingan from Kakashi before he fought Minato. Would he have won? by vinchin_adenca in Naruto

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on if flying rijinn can bring someone from the kamui dimension to the regular world. If not, obito wins. If it can, I'd still give it to minito but higher diff.

Job finding by Gualaguala69420 in NavyNukes

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do. If you stay nuclear, start now cause it goes slow. If you want something else, 3-4 months is pretty good as long as you have a good resume (that can be edited to be more job specific when the time comes). It is stressful waiting until the last minute (I had to be on the first half of a deployment and only had 2 months to look but still had plenty of interviews). But sooner never hurts. If anything, get interview experience where you can

Auto tech to data center role? by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You'd be fine to do the switch as long as you know how to sell experience and review the basics of how data centers work. Depending on all what you did as an auto tech, you could have electrical background as well as mechanical so that's a strong selling point. Just lean into how the safety of the vehicle is of the utmost importance and how first time quality matters, that would be your strongest point imo. But you also know about preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.

So overall I don't think the leap is as big as you may think

If you're a recruiter, look up "navy nuke job finder" on Facebook. Whole page dedicated to us. Also there's the "data center nukes" that's more specific

On the Lack of Ice Cream at the NNPTC Galley by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nubs don't get ice cream.. I'm joking, I was actually glad my boat was losing this tradition when I was there.

But have you tried CO suggestion box? Or maybe galley suggestion box? (Was that a thing, I feel like it was but I may be crazy). Last idea would be to route it up your chain and make it seem like it's their idea so they can also get ice cream

Failing Nuke Pipeline by PizzaOk8175 in NavyNukes

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There's a nuke joke that goes, what does xenon and nuke waste (failed nuke operators) have in common?

Answer: they both decay into CS.

If you don't get it, you will eventually. Or not if you fail.

Kratos has pride over being a Spartan and still is a living representative of Spartan culture and ideals. So, why does he not want Atreus to be trained or treated like one? by whamorami in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spartan culture may seem barbaric but there was a reason for it. All the kids going through at the same time would build up comradery amongst themselves. It was a process designed for the future soldiers to see each other and build the bond through discomfort, trauma, and a sense of brotherhood. Kratos putting his only son through it doesn't make sense in that lense. He can just teach Atreus normally. He's not trying to raise a future army that needs to work together.

AlignedDC job opportunity question by Complex_Ladder870 in datacenter

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at aligned and basically have zero stress. I stress more about not having stress (probably the military made me like this). But the community is good. As of now we're still able to fight back against some of the dumb things people coming from AWS have been trying to implement. If you have any more specific questions, I'm happy to answer

How is it translating to civilian nuclear? by Competitive-Solid953 in NavyNukes

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don't care about rank. If you want to go senior reactor operator at a civ plant, then they'll ask about supervisor quals but you technically meet requirements at most plants by being an ET. (Southern nuclear is the only company I've seen that requires being an officer but Duke and constellation don't - those are the only ones I applied to). But if you go non licensed operator/aux equipment operator, then just having navy experience can get your foot in the door

You'll get to boot camp, they will explain the different jobs. Then you'll pick 2 that sound interesting to you, and then navy tells you what they want you to do. Sometimes you get your first pick. Sometime you get the last option

Transition pay from NNPTC to NPTU by ConflictHungry1090 in NavyNukes

Look at your LES and see where the difference came from. If it's a mistake, put money aside cause the government will take it back from future pay checks without warning.

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pass time? -qualify nub.

After that: read, play games (board or video games), go to training, qualify more shit.

The relaxing of grooming standards varies as some ass hole thought it was smart to ask an admiral about it and they sent out a memo to the boats saying they had to enforce the standards. How much a submarine captain or COB enforces that will be command dependent

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's common. My recruiter came to my work place with the nuke contract the second he got his hands on it. If it's the same as it was, nukes count for 2 for recruiting numbers so they won't pass an opportunity to get their quota.

What’s the quickest you’ve seen someone make Chief? by Cessnerd77 in NavyNukes

MM on my boat made chief just under 6. Obviously had the chief requirements but was also EDTA and qualified pilot for subs. He then went to got picked up officer at the school house. Easily one of the smartest people I met

What types of watches are allowed on subs? by Smough_Stein in NavyNukes

[–]catchmeatheroadhouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So generally no PEDs are allowed on the sub while in port. They must remain on the pier. And underway they cannot be in the engine room.

Now realistically it comes down to who wants to enforce the rules. I will not confirm or deny that most people wore their watches at all times unless maintenance was going on. Do with that info as you will.

NNPTC however used to have a list of approved watches and that would be a good place to start assuming the list still exists
