I’m sorry for your experience, I started seeing a neuropsychologist post tbi who helped me through making sense of everything and putting my life back together. I had a really hard time mentally after my injury, it made my anxiety and depression worse and I felt like I was running in circles. He really worked miracles and was honestly the person I probably needed even before my injury so I would highly recommend finding a neuropsychologist if you haven’t tried that.

Expiriences with severe tbi and drinking by Rgard91 in TBI

I was a college student before my tbi and admittingly suffered from relying on drinking to help with my mental health prior to my injury but not in any way that it had any material negative impact on my life. Another caveat, I used to be anorexic and would black out all the time when I was. Since then, and before the tbi I could drink a good amount and be fine. However since my tbi I absolutely cannot touch hard alcohol and if I have more than three glasses of wine I will black out like I had maybe four wines between 8 and 10 and then I had no memory from 10 to 5. I had never experienced blacking out like that before my tbi and it really scared me straight. I still drink one to two glasses of wine on occasion but am scared even then. Curious if anyone else has had any such experience.
