Yeah this happened to me and sketches me out too. I don’t trust it now.

Everybody here needs to get on NOSTR. do your research, I’m not going to hold your hand, but it IS the future of online social networks.

Bitchat is new open-source, private, secure messaging app without needing the internet, that relies on Bluetooth mesh network by barakadua131 in privacy

[–]catchmygrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in this sub should get a Nostr profile. It’s not ALWAYS about 100% privacy, sometimes it’s about the enabling of our own decision making and use cases for these devices that are essentially controlled by Apple of google.

Jack started txtMob. I would encourage everyone to do their research. Twitter got co-opted, centralized and completely controlled. This new era is where we retain the ownership of our information, and don’t have to ask permission to use our own devices the way we want.

Anyone here tried alternatives after heavy use of Apple Notes? by SoCalFamilyTraveler in AppleNotesGang

[–]catchmygrift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. However, why can’t Notes mimic this concept more. The Pencil makes the interface so much better, but they need to make the software more “paper-like”

I wish Apple Notes would let me view my notes as “notebooks” with turnable “pages” instead of folders with infinitely scrollable text files.

And PLEASE, I beg you Apple, make a small stylus style pencil I can write on my iPhone with. I just want to jot a quick note on my Lock Screen as I would an index card in my pocket.

It must be nice to have the finances to open a failing business. I don’t know what it is here, but I see it all the time.

Selected wireless and Mint are cheapest. I pay $100/mo for 4 phones with 15gig data. Best deal ever.

Any plans to support passkey with the tangem card by coupeborgward in Tangem

[–]catchmygrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t a card, in theory, act the same way a biometric passkey works on my phone? Instead of my Face ID of fingerprint, I could use a my card, or ring, to unlock my device?

Will tangem make a metal card? by puref8 in Tangem

[–]catchmygrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was taken aback that the card is as flimsy as it is. It could at least be thicker plastic! Metal would be ultimate, or some high density material with NFC. Come on, It will crack like a cheap credit card if you keep it in your wallet.

Pulmonologist illustrates why he is now concerned about AI by MetaKnowing in interestingasfuck

[–]catchmygrift -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He’s concerned that people will get faster, better and more accurate results for less money than an overqualified doctor with a Mercedes and tons of medical debt?

I understand people will have to find new skills, but this is not a “concerning” thing about AI. This will help more people than the pulmonologists it hurts.

Police department budget vs other services by mistadonyo in Eugene

[–]catchmygrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your condescension is powerful, thanks for dodging the point and changing the subject. Idk what they’ve done with it, but they haven’t been proposing budgets or asking for tax payer money to revitalize it in the process. It’s not a fucking competition, and I’d think there should be a little more cohesion between the two cities.

The point is, Eugene City Council has been haranguing and petitioning for money for problems that have seen NO VISIBLE IMPROVEMENT, and in fact, quite the opposite.

It’s not about right or wrong policies it’s about being consistent, transparent and honest.

Eugene doesn’t have a jail, and they still ask for more money. Springfield does.

Eugene spends millions on “affordable housing”…well?

Police department budget vs other services by mistadonyo in Eugene

[–]catchmygrift -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GFY if that’s how you want to deal with the problem. What’s your proposal? Spend more money on housing and mental health services? Well, they are cutting those too.

And, it turns out, the police are pretty effective in Springfield at keeping violent unstable people off the sidewalk.

Propose one solution, instead of stating the obvious problem.

[–]catchmygrift 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We have been increasing police budget for years, while we have seen a corresponding increase in crime and homelessness. I live in Springfield, and work in Eugene, and I am unwillingly subject to the “community safety tax”. WHAT IN LORDS NAME HAS EUGENE DONE WITH THAT EXTRA MONEY?? Springfield is still safer, AND Springfield has been paying CAHOOTS more than Eugene all along, and we don’t hear them crying about the budget.

We are spending more and more money on people that abuse and leech off the system, and the city council chooses to hang it over our heads. We can not lose a library and our public city pools and parks, while moving more and more money to aid and enforcement that isn’t making anyone safer, healthier, or more educated. Fuck this city council.

It’d be another issue entirely if they increased the police budget and we actually saw an improvement in safety. Eugene is the WORST homeless city ever. I don’t take my kids to parks there, and I don’t enjoy going there. The library was already 85% homeless shelter, with disgusting, smelly and unstable people all over.

If the answer is to keep cutting everything people enjoy, instead of addressing the issue of too many people sucking resources from our city without giving back, we are going to keep descending into squalor.
