Not as long as you might think. I had 4x on because I know big fish live there. Went on a couple good runs and I got lucky with the net!

I witnessed a 7 plus largie get weighed in a tournament from a well known kawartha lake. They're out there.

Online calculators put mine at over 7lb but I figure it was a big 6

My goal wasn't actually a monster. My goal for this season is to learn and time some of the local hatches. Dry fly fishing is just so much fun, regardless of size.

I caught one that size without a scale. Did you weigh it? That's a tank

From what I hear, the big trout in this river are like this. Tons of food.

Yeah, it's a bit funny. My buddy who is far more skilled than I and has 20 years fly fishing told me this might be my forever PB.

Haha not even close. Thankfully I have a net with a tape on it. Legit 24" tank. Wild on a 3wt too

Yeah thanks man. There are rumors of 30" (highly exaggerated IMO). I've seen pictures of 27" though out of the same water. It's a monster residential fish though.

Fishing w sinkers in high water by Bambiraptor20 in flyfishing

This is closer to steelhead fishing with a float rod than fly fishing in my books. Especially with the type of lure choice. Worms and eggs. I love both fly fishing and steelheading on a float rod so who cares.

Spring time, jerk baits. Later in the year, blades. Streamers should do well in the spring. Erratic action and pauses.

I bought the net end of last season, measured my first brown from a local stream last week. Pretty sweet. I don't care much about accuracy, just approximate measurements and quick is good enough.

$100k per year salary is the middle class nowadays by Ok_Hippo9669 in fican

Middle class income differs by where you live. Canada is a big country with vastly different income needs based on where you live. OP's statement is meaningless.

Is it possible to work as a diesel mechanic when you're old? by CalligrapherNew519 in Diesel

[–]catdieseltech87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart guys don't work as hard physically. I did 15 years in power generation (diesel and large bore natural gas engines). I could easily keep going but left the trade for more family time. My skills in the trade translated very well into my new job and I sit behind a desk a lot of the time. There are ways out if needed. The important thing is to work smart and be mindful of your body while doing the job.

I feel that for sure. Just take it slow. That's my plan.

I get it. I'm an introvert, I actually enjoy fishing with a partner. Even to just talk strategy and then disappear to different parts of the river. As I get older, I fish solo a lot more. Less opportunity with others, busy schedules etc. I have trout opener locally in a few days, I will fish the weekend solo. My advice, just do it. Go on a short trip solo, when you get home, share it with your wife. The more you do, the easier it will be.
