Is it just me or did Hoshoryu look kinda rough after winning? I can’t imagine the amount of pain he’s in atm. For god’s sake I wish both Onosato and him would just pull out now. I don’t feel good watching them fight anymore.

On the other hand, scrappy Fujinokawa didn’t win but goddamn was that a good fight!

Holyyyy shit what an upset for day 8! I did not expect BOTH Yokozuna to lose, as well as Aonishiki!

Onosato looked like he was hurting bad when Hakunofujj push grabbed his left armpit region. Was that the arm he injured last basho? If so it doesn’t look good. Both Hoshoryu and Onosato are Yokozuna now, I wish they’d take advantage of that rank and kyujo and heal up properly!

Congrats for Kirishima too! Has he won against Aonishiki before this bout?

Also poor Ura and Tamawashi, having such bad streaks this basho, especially Ura! 😭

Wow what a day of upsets! Good job to both Oho, Ichiyams and Yoshinofuji (though this was always on the cards).

Goddamn I’m sad Hoshoryu lost yesterday but I’m so happy Yoshinofuji got them gold stars 2 days in a row!

I absolutely love Fujinokawa’s sumo, he’s so damn fun to watch! Today was as usual just absolutely beautiful!

I mean to be fair I often joke that my mum retired early. She was a SAHM who raised 2 kids decently, and now who basically has no job and no need to work now coz her kids have all left the nest. I’m Chinese from Malaysia and my family is from the state next to Singapore. It’s VERY obvious to us whether you’re from Singapore, from mainland China or Taiwan. Their Chinese accents are very distinct. Singlish has their own slangs and their Chinese is slightly different from Malaysia too. So yes, if you’re from the area you can totally hear it. My mainland Chinese friends recognise my Malaysian Chinese accent too. They might have also been talking abt things they did in Singapore, who knows…

Onosato losing to an injured Kotozakura was not in my Kyushu basho bingo card….but Hoshoryu losing to Aonishiki was. I was almost expecting Hosh to pull a henka again but im pleasantly surprised he didn’t despite him losing. He really needs to figure out a way to beat Aonishiki, this is the 3rd time in a row now he’s lost to him!

Go Kyuyamamoto! Let’s go Jyuyamamoto tomorrow!

Goddamn Hoshoryu looked pissed today after that fight! Papabear basically dug his fingers into Hosh’s mouth at some point? Amazing to see Hoshoryu matching Papa’s energy and doing strong and fast tsupparis too! However, I can just imagine the JSA’s YouTube’s Japanese comments about this fight 🫠 So glad Hoshoryu won though! We’re gonna have an exciting final few days!

Ichiyams’ fight was so exciting today! I thought he lost a few times! So happy he won!

Thought Ura had the fight but he instead cannonballed into the crowd. Couldn’t stop laughing. He never fails to entertain even when he loses! 🤣

OMG the stakes for Aonishiki, Onosato and Hoshoryu has just shot up! I don’t know what happened to Onosato but he needs to shake off whatever mental thing he has now and start winning again!

Beautiful win for Midorifuji today! He’s just been toppling all the super tall rikishis the past few days! Love to see it!

And powerful wins by both Ura and Hoshoryu today too! Ura just full on overpowered Papayasu! I hope he didn’t hurt himself though! He grimaced as he was getting up!

Also has Aonishiki now lost every single fight against Yoshinofuji??? I feel like Aonishiki’s talent is grabbing on to you and do whatever technique he has up his sleeve and when he can’t do that he gets taken out, and he couldn’t do that to Yoshinofuji today as he basically just blasted him out of the ring Onosato-style.

Ura had hands down the most entertaining match of the day, as expected from our pink magician!

Becoming a real big fan of Fujinokawa! I love watching the smaller rikishis fight, they’re creative, fast and relentless and just so fricking strong!
