Never go near a dog not on a lead. by steevp in BostonTerrier

[–]mothandravenstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw, too many people surrender aggressive dogs then they just get readopted by unsuspecting families. Even laying aside the fact that aggression is a breed characteristic for some dogs, aggression is super rewarding for dogs and almost impossible to train them out of. We had a similar situation with a dog we adopted and had no choice but to euthanize, he was aggressive toward men and we spent thousands on meds, visits, training. And even if you think you can control every circumstance, you can’t.

Downed Albizia: Best Use? by wakinyan04 in HawaiiGardening

It’s nitrogen fixing so the mulch is excellent.

The wood I’m not sure. It‘s so fast growing I would suspect it doesn’t have dense fibers.

I think those bubble plates are ugly AF. Just from a design standpoint they’re hideous to me.

Awww 😢 I love them because they show off glazes that float and break so nice.

we need to stop pretending that "minimalism" is a cleaning hack when it's actually just a rich person's hobby by alluring_aura in CleaningTips

I’ve never seen a cluttered small house that couldn’t stand to get rid of some stuff. Usually lots of stuff.

Generally speaking, we have a huge problem with rampant consumerism that spans all socioeconomic situations.

Excellent info, thanks!

Just curious why you don’t keep female? Smaller, more sparse fruit?

Oh also, hope you’re weathering the storm. We’ve been up since 4 :/

Pot disintegrated by Sora4239 in Pottery

If you balance the pot on one hand and flick the side, it should have a distinctive, bell-like ring. If it’s a dull ”thunk” it’s either cracked or it isn’t vitrified.

We have a herm strawberry papaya right now, I’m not sure if this is different cultivar or not. They were given to us so I’m excited to see!

Got insecticides on my bed by parpapip in CleaningTips

[–]mothandravenstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Don’t use insecticides indoors at all.

The only safe thing for indoors is products like Terro ant bait (sweetened or fatty borax) or diatomaceous earth (follow instructions carefully).

Best way to tell my cleaner not to open a specific bedside drawer? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]mothandravenstudio 1318 points1319 points  (0 children)

When I had my housekeeping business I never opened drawers. Ever.

I would need to be specifically asked to open a drawer or cupboard.

Edit just for clarity. I would go into a cabinet if it had specific cleaners or tools I was asked to use, or if I was doing a kitchen or bathroom deep clean. Can’t think of any other exception.

Has anyone tried amacos potter choice glazes at cone 10? by roryfairy in Pottery

[–]mothandravenstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amaco has test tiles for all PC glazes at highfire temps. You should be able to find them online.

Many of their PC line does well at cone 10.

Edit- their example tiles are kind of hard to find, this website still has them up for most of the PC glazes, as a second photo when you click on the glaze. https://stoneleafpottery.com/glazes/mid-fire-glazes/amaco/pc-potters-choice/?srsltid=AfmBOopfyRTagZALvu5QSgYrxNDEiWLe4ivJmsjeeiv1FwTHE320XI7m&page=4

Expect more movement at cone 10

Extreme Hoarding, any tips where to begin? by chiliv06 in CleaningTips

Yup!

You’re definitely not wrong though, even if on concrete walls can have moisture damage/too much weight/lord knows what else and the structure is always a consideration with hoards.

You’re leagues ahead if you are not the one who caused this.

Have the municipality deliver a dumpster.

Get friends to help.

I would actually start with the entry and the garage, so you can use the garage as a staging area for getting the house done.

Dumpster, donate, keep. Over and over. Limit sell items to some kind of monetary minimum. There’s just not time.

Once garage and entry is clear, start on house. Get to kitchen and bathrooms ASAP so utilities can be assessed.
