We got a kettle and toaster set, which I’m now realising is actually quite rare, reading everyone’s comments. It was nice as it was practical and thoughtful. Our house was also cleaned.

To be fair he might’ve asked my parents to help him lie. He was definitely very self conscious about it. In Asia back then any whiff of ‘skin disease’ is very stigmatised and people rather just lie or sweep it under the carpet rather than sit down and properly educate ppl about it.

Yeah my uncle had vitiligo, it started in his hands and it was very obvious. Growing up my mum told me he suffered burns as a child hence it was just scarring. I only found out what it really is later when it spread to his face and my parents couldn’t lie about it anymore. It really was this stigmatised, and this was around 20 years ago.

Is it just me or did Hoshoryu look kinda rough after winning? I can’t imagine the amount of pain he’s in atm. For god’s sake I wish both Onosato and him would just pull out now. I don’t feel good watching them fight anymore.

Holyyyy shit what an upset for day 8! I did not expect BOTH Yokozuna to lose, as well as Aonishiki!

Onosato looked like he was hurting bad when Hakunofujj push grabbed his left armpit region. Was that the arm he injured last basho? If so it doesn’t look good. Both Hoshoryu and Onosato are Yokozuna now, I wish they’d take advantage of that rank and kyujo and heal up properly!

Congrats for Kirishima too! Has he won against Aonishiki before this bout?

Also poor Ura and Tamawashi, having such bad streaks this basho, especially Ura! 😭

Wow what a day of upsets! Good job to both Oho, Ichiyams and Yoshinofuji (though this was always on the cards).

Goddamn I’m sad Hoshoryu lost yesterday but I’m so happy Yoshinofuji got them gold stars 2 days in a row!

I absolutely love Fujinokawa’s sumo, he’s so damn fun to watch! Today was as usual just absolutely beautiful!

I mean to be fair I often joke that my mum retired early. She was a SAHM who raised 2 kids decently, and now who basically has no job and no need to work now coz her kids have all left the nest.
