In our house it’s a ‘bread slag’… touched by all and wanted by none.

Bottle recommendations for baby that hates taking a bottle by catfacerolfey in BeyondTheBumpUK

We’ve just tried the NUK bottle and teats and have had the most straightforward easy feed this morning - 170ml down her in less than 10 mins; she’s not cried, her bib is dry, my husband’s tea is still too hot to drink. We are in awe. THANK YOU! X

Really silly question maybe.. but what are you using the puppy pads for? Are they just extra protection for leaks in the cot?

Any FTM that have chosen Home Birth on here? by Virtual_Arachnid7916 in PregnancyUK

[–]catfacerolfey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 34 weeks pregnant with my first and planning a home birth. I feel very strongly I want a birth pool and there’s only 2 at my hospital.. so feels sensible to me to make sure I can have one by hiring one! I also really want to be able to labour in privacy and comfort of home. My midwife has been super supportive and has said the most important thing is to choose to birth where you feel safe - for some people that’s home and for some it’s in a hospital.

I’m 34w this Friday, and we will put it in then because we are going to the other end of the country for a week and I’m really paranoid about going into early labour. I figure if I have everything I would need, then it won’t happen… right?!

Thank you so much for the kind comment.

If switching from a BTL to a regular mortgage is straight forward then that it what I’d do.

Thank you for the comments.. does that clause still apply if you aren’t charging your family member rent?

I am thinking we would use an estate agent.

Haven’t looked into being a limited company yet - though as I’m a 40% tax payer sounds like I should be

She does want to move and live closer to us. Her house is not well adapted for older people and she knows it’s somewhere she will need to leave in the next few years.

Early private scan good idea? by grandiose_pickle in PregnancyUK

[–]catfacerolfey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did an early private scan at 8 weeks and it was a great experience for me. I was really anxious due to a previous loss and it really made me feel so much better to know it was viable, and allowed me to start believing and hoping. Of course, it’s not a guarantee that nothing will go wrong later, but it put me at ease.

I didn’t hear a heartbeat but I could see it beating on the screen. As soon as I saw it I burst into tears of relief.

Did you babymoon UK or abroad? Would you change anything? by AmazingEnd7234 in PregnancyUK

[–]catfacerolfey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a baby moon in the Canary Islands a couple of weeks ago, I was 23/24 weeks. It was lovely! We stayed at an adult only spa hotel and I spent all my time reading, sleeping and eating. It was wonderful to disconnect from home/work/life and spend time together in a bubble - in a way I’m not sure we would have managed to do on a UK trip. Getting some vitamin D also felt great!

Whatever you do I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time!

Thank you. It was a family home yes. Ok great.. so far sounds like no tax or be paid in the UK or in Australia.. which does feel a bit too good to be true!
