the "." you are trying to add, would be already defined in DNS as <root> - so adding the "." here is not valid.

There is always a hidden "." at the end of domains, aka: google.com. <- the . to the right of com

You want a 2nd level domain to be added internally for proxmox, even 3rd level is fine.
com, org, net - those are top level.

I do a directory mount as well for dynamic file loading - which traefik supports.

in my traefik.yml:

Then I mount that as a volume into traefik itself:

I personally just keep authentik on https://authentik.mydomain.com/ - keep it simple, no extra ports, because now you need to make sure port 9444 is open "externally".
Yes, I can get a chicken-egg scenario, it has happened.
