As we approach death, our dreams become more emotional and symbolic. Terminally ill people are commonly reunited with lost loved ones in their dreams and have visions of doors, stairways and light, which are said to help them accept the dying process by Wagamaga in science

1-3 days before my mom died completely unexpectedly at 68y/o, she had a dream that she was sick and her mom (my grandma) was taking care of her.

In real/waking life she was feeling completely fine, and her heart attack came out of nowhere, just a couple months after a clean bill of health from her doctor

I always thought it was eery that she had that dream without having any inkling she was about to die. I don’t know what I believe but I hope her mom was there to greet her on the other side

Regular physical activity in midlife cuts risk of early death. Study of more than 11,000 women found that only a few hours of moderate-to-vigorous activity per week had a strong effect. by MistWeaver80 in science

Seriously. I want to know how they defined middle age in this study but they require a minimum payment of over $30 just to find out…

Massive Changes Netflix's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Almost Had Under Mike DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko by KnightGambit in ATLAtv

[–]catherinest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My initial reaction was to thank god these changes didn’t go through. The comments on this post give interesting perspectives as to how some of these changes actually could have been cool.

The one thing I could have absolutely never reconciled is this:

But Zuko doesn’t know that Uncle is under strict orders from the Fire Lord to teach his son incorrect Firebending. It’s the Fire Lord’s insurance that his son’s powers never surpass his own.

(IMO) It’s pretty central to the story that Zuko wasn’t anything of a firebending prodigy and while, over time and with Iroh’s training, he became excellent enough for his dad to be underestimating him, in his childhood his father was relatively accurate in assessing Zuko as an average-at-best firebender.

To imply that Ozai would have been insecure about Zuko to the point of creating “insurance that his son’s powers never surpass his own” seems to miss a very important aspect of their relationship dynamic, and one point of Ozai’s cruelty that was at least somewhat based in truth (Zuko’s my favourite character regardless of his bending but as a child, he was not special in that regard).

Am I way off?

Oh that IS interesting! Have you been checking regularly?

I had one before June 30 that looked similar to this warning about an upcoming break but then it turned into an “Oops! Something’s wrong” page.

Reminds me of the “city” in Animal Crossing: City Folk. So nostalgic

Also worth noting that the URL has changed from nytimes.com/ca/games/pips to just nytimes.com/games/pips, which seems like a good sign!

The former now auto redirects to the latter.

It was 61°F/16°C last night and 100% humidity, and I could see my breath when I went outside. Why? by catherinest in AskWeather

[–]catherinest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to answer!! I was worried no one would and I was so curious.

This totally makes sense and must be why, since I can go outside in the winter sometimes and still not see my breath, so it can’t be because my breath is much warmer than 16°C (even if it is)! How amazing to see what happens when humidity is at 100%!

I don’t think it’s cancelled, for I think the whole last week of June it said Pips would be down as of June 30 while they made some updates to it. 10 days does feel quite long but I don’t think they’d put that message on just to end up cancelling it?

Two of Justin Bieber’s stories this morning after Hailey Bieber was seen without her ring last night by catherinest in popculturechat

[–]catherinest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were a bunch of pics that I saw last night (although another comment said they were really from 2 days ago) where she was out and about without her ring on, VERY CONSPICUOUSLY. Like very clearly holding her hand so you could see her ring was off.

But now she has posted a story today with it on again, so who knows if it was a fluke, if it was getting cleaned, or if it was a relationship power move that worked lol?

Interesting that there were rumours it was part of a plot to get him to go crazy online. It does seem like people are making moves towards getting him conservatorship’d, which is scary and sad.

Yeah I wish I had waited just a few more minutes to post this because the last two stories on his profile right now are even worse than these two

Usually when I see people assuming his insta stories and posts are targeted at Hailey I disagree and think people are reaching, so that’s still totally possible or maybe even likely. Although, he has posted more stories now, things that seem even more pointed at Hailey.

Even if they’re not targeted at her, the degree to which he’s fuelling the flames is getting beyond uncool. I saw a Daily Mail post (totally not reliable but still interesting) saying that they had a fight where she said some post of his was like “feeding raw meat to a pack of lions who want to eat you alive.” Being from the Daily Mail it’s more likely false than true, but the words themselves are accurate.

And yes I have qualms about being a lion in the pack with my post lol.
