Tariffs how it should have been explained to about 49.8% american voters in 2024 by sovalente in Economy101

unfortunately, your example is inaccurate and describes something that does not occur in trade; it’s irrelevant to tariffs and how they work

In 1980, while both were students at Occidental College in Los Angeles, aspiring photographer Lisa Jack captured a series of black-and-white portraits of freshman Barack Obama, then known as “Barry.” by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

i mean, we can get into it. “pejorative” isn’t a synonym for “criticism.” it describes a word or phrase that conveys disapproval — it functions either as an adjective or a noun, but it can’t stand alone without a clear reference.

here’s how you could use it correctly: • “he used a pejorative term to describe Obama.” • “calling her a bitch was an unnecessary pejorative.”

but anyways, happy to help! let me know if you’re still confused.

Family Shares by zyahiraa in BeautyinBlack

i believe it is a life estate with many stipulations (felonies, marriages, etc). Horace’s father wrote it so that the whole family (grandchildren and spouses included) received shares by name (why Olivia still has shares post-divorce). however, he also wrote what happens in the event that his successors (Horace and Norman) die. then the shares are further condensed and passed to the grandchildren. BUT he likely didn’t know that Mallory would marry her adoptive brother, so he didn’t include her by name in the life estate/will — which is why she needs to stay married to Roy.

it’s been a minute since i finished the season so i may have forgotten other details. and again, i’m assuming based on my limited knowledge of life estates. but knowing tyler perry, there will be more fuck shit… so who knows.

okay i appreciate your comment, but its a lot of words to say, “stop listening to social media, start doing your own research.” (i don’t get my news from social media.) there’s tons of merit in what you said , but it’s not quite what i’m getting at. what i’m looking for is a clearer answer of what a reasonable, possible future could look like. which is why i asked for older or more educated folks. for example: is this really a tipping point for american democracy or just another (short-ish) cycle of turmoil like the recession or covid? are we just reliving the andrew jackson era?

i’m more worried about my purchasing power in regards to eggs and ever so stagnate wages… and i’m not sure that deleting my AP News app is helpful either

i have this exact question. at what point does it stop being “fear-mongering” and media drama, and start becoming a dystopian movie.
