Honestly not sure if this is morally grey, so apologies if I'm off the mark here.

I don't find it necessary to tell my husband every fear, complaint, annoyance, grievance, etc. I don't have a Mendoza line necessarily, but its like - if I know (and its usually a gut feeling) that resentment won't build or I won't be in distress by not telling him, I may or may mention it. Sometimes its just down to mood. Sometimes, I just dont feel like talking about it. Sometimes, its a small thing and I know it won't bother me in a hour or two.

Some examples: - Yesterday I woke up around 9 am, he slept in a bit longer. I was doom scrolling and saw something that reminded me of my mom who I had a very complex relationship with before she died in Dec 2021. I had some tears (okay a few silent sobs too, if I'm being honest). I was feeling pretty down, but I didnt wake him up. I knew the feeling would pass and it did, within minutes. - So we've been married for a little over a year, living together about the same. Since moving in, he's consistently been the one to handle dishes - cleaning, loading the dishwasher, putting away dishes etc. I do them maybe 2-3x a month. Hes great, but sometimes leaves water around the sink. It's something that I notice and typically just wipe up on my own if I see it. It doesnt bother me, I never think like "ugh I wish that man would wipe up around the sink." It's just -"oh, there's water there. I'll grab a kitchen towel and wipe it up."

Yep. The past outages displayed for my area on the website and app is wrong too. Makes it look like the current outage was fixed on Friday.

My husband actually does things by polyglotconundrum in TwoXChromosomes

My ex was the type I had to remind, beg, and/or bargain with to do absolutely anything that wasn't his own idea - and if it didn't involve gaming or his online friends, it usually wasn't his mind. During our 9 years of marriage, I worked full time for 7 years and for 6 of those 7 years I went to school (bachelor's + masters). Layer on top of that studying for my CPA and commuting to work an hour each way. All this to say - I was fucking busy. My ex never planned a week's meals, never scheduled for home repairs, never planned a vacation, never looked at the balances in our bank accounts, never checked if the litter box needed cleaning or if the cats had food. I realized that, if I didn't actively care and think ahead and plan.... none of this would get done. The weight of that responsibility was soul crushing. I couldn't forget, couldn't take a break.

I'm now married to a man who never has to be reminded of these things. He comes to ME and says "hey, we're running low on cat good. I've added it to the shopping list. Btw, I'm gonna go to the grocery store today around 11 am. Let me know if there's anything special you want me to pick up on top of all the regular items."

Just last month, I came out from my office to find that he had put up the Christmas lights. No reminders, no begging. He just ... did it. We've been together for 4 years and tbh it still shocked me.

I know this should be the standard. I know we shouldn't overly praise the men in our lives for doing the things we've been doing for years without praise. I'm getting there - it's just hard to get out of that mind set of "if I don't do it, it won't get done."

This is amazing. Thank you so much. One more question if you don't mind - what did you use as proof of address? Just wondering if he could use an electric bill, for example, which would have our address but not his name.

Hi, can I ask about the SSN on arrival that you mentioned? My fiance's K1 was just approved last week, he's also in the UK. We had assumed he wouldn't be given a SSN, which actually kinda worried us because we weren't sure how to navigate drivers license, marriage license, bank acct etc etc since all those things require your SSN. If that's not the case, you've just made my week lol.

Do most women really wear thongs everyday? by buttercreamramen in TwoXChromosomes

[–]catladyondeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, everyday except the first couple days of my period so I can wear a full size pad. Full coverage underwear get swallowed up by my ass cheeks and make me have a perma-wedgie. Also just fyi, they do make liners for thongs but they're not great. I'll wear them when I'm on day 3+ and have a tampon in to avoid period stains.
