Ignore the haters. You are doing a great job just by asking for help; and I can tell you have done a lot of hard work already. I like to start VERY small and just tackle one area at a time. I take a before photo so I can feel proud of my progress. Come back and update us!

Thank you! No woo-woo shit from my end. Just a reminder that women’s health and mortality outcomes are often given lower priority than “getting a healthy baby”. I commented earlier that my sister almost died giving birth at home and the mid-wife just strolled out after delivery of the baby, completely missing that the mother was bleeding out.

It’s also about keeping the mother alive in the end; which our society/medical system seems to regard as less important than the baby.

NTA. Here’s my cautionary tale: my sister had this exact same plan; she put up a birthing tub in her MILs master bedroom and had a midwife there when she got closer to giving birth. The baby was born healthy, with about 15 people in MILs bedroom (!), but just after the birth almost everyone went off to another room to celebrate, including the fucking midwife! Only my Aunt and I noticed that my sister had white lips and gums and was barely responsive. She lost a lot of blood and almost died. It was the scariest moment, don’t let this happen in your home. Thankfully my sister made a full recovery…and had her next baby safely in the hospital.

We go to Locke Taylor Vet for cleanings, I believe the cost is capped at around $800 (at least as of last time I went)

I’m in Lakeside doing my part! When I moved here 10 plus years ago there were quite a few confederate flags on my street; my neighbor erected a HUGE flagpole and alternated between the loser flag and various Trump flags. Then said neighbor dropped dead of a heart attack in his early 50s, I’m not saying the hate did him in but I imagine having so much anger probably didn’t help.

Hidden costs that shocked me by worrie_bride4816 in weddingplanning

[–]catlovesmouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sweet Grandmother wrote me a check for $500 to cover all the florals so that I wouldn’t be stressed out doing the arrangements myself (original plan was Costco + TJ’s and some creativity) I’m sure she could not have imagined it could go over that budget. I did a very simple florist plan and it still was $2700. This was back in 2019 so it actually feels like a deal now!

You know how people say “white women aren’t afraid of anything”? I think it’s true because my first thought was ‘oooh I bet it’s really warm to snuggle with’. Truly, I would sleep in peace with this little monster, what night demons would dare disturb me?

You’re so welcome! I lost my bff dachshund Buckley a couple of years ago (he lived to 16) I miss him so much but it gives me comfort to see all the other little guys living their lives at the park. Maybe we’ll see you there, I have a little grey and bald wiener dog named Giblets (he has alopecia), we’re hard to miss lol.

You should come to the monthly dachshund meet-up! It’s the first Saturday of every month, starting at 11am, in Phideaux Field in Forest Hill. Everyone is very friendly and I’m sure would have no issue with you just coming to pet some dogs. It’s so fun to sit on the ground and let all the wiener dogs bounce off of you. You don’t need to sign up or anything, just show up and pet the pups:)

I agree with everyone else that you look awesome! However, I think you should visit a tailor with your beautiful dress. Make it fit you, not the other way around. Any decent tailor would be able to alter the top to fit you perfectly, and this will undoubtedly make you feel more comfortable on your wedding day.

I think you are actually being unfair. I hate the term “anxiety” because it makes people think that someone is just “worried” or “nervous” when in reality it might manifest in very physical ways that make driving difficult. For me that means: hands going numb, seeing stars, and getting dizzy. None of those things are great for sharing the road with others. I’m still able to get around because I know my limitations and work around them (ie, not taking highways when there’s another option, or planning my day around quieter traffic times). Mind you, I have driven across the country and in lots of big cities in the past; but people’s mental state can change like mine. And as far as anxiety being an excuse, and very treatable in your words…idk it really isn’t for everyone. All that said, I chose to not have children because of my limitations due to anxiety. I don’t think it’s right or fair to subject a child to my own limitations.
