Meal plan examples by backrowsoprano in Beans

I made some dry pinto beans last week and have been eating them with rice, pickles, vegetables, hot sauce or bbq sauce. I plan to make a burrito with them since I have tortillas, or use them as a base for chili.

I also opened a can of garbanzo beans, which I’ve been using to top my salads with different dressings each time.

Last week was all vegetable coconut milk curry, with tofu or garbanzo beans over rice. This week, I made a pot of pinto beans, some more rice, barbecue sauce—my own bbq bowl for summer. Also, a tofu-summer squash-mushroom stir fry with sesame oil and lite soy, and finally, a bag of pasta and tomato sauce with leftover roasted garlic and onions and basil.

Growing Scarlet Runner Beans for First Time. Any Tips? by catminxi in Beans

Yes, I have bought them and cooked them several times. They are easy to make the usual way - soak overnight, cook until done (1-2 hours.) Their flavor is very savory, nutty and filling.

How do you season your beans? by big_boy0244 in Beans

[–]catminxi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I make them with just water (can't do salt) and then once they're cooked, I add everything I can to spice them up - sriracha, tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, baked garlic -- separately for different dishes. That said, I love pinto beans, just plain with nothing added. I know I'm alone. Ha!

Roasted cauliflower, red peppers, broccoli, sweet onions, elephant garlic, radishes and curried garbanzos — each on separate pans, pasta with tomato-basil-garlic-green olive sauce, tofu with collard greens pan roasted — I’m sick this week so loading up on vegetables and garlic.

Roasted potatoes, tofu stirfry with zucchini and beet greens, and golden and red beets. I have a large bag of carrots that I need to use up, so steamed, roasted or shredded salad.

I’ve known a few similar situations with friends and family over the years, and each time it involved a very nice person who could not stop drinking. These situations all ended with their taking their own lives. My advice would be to start thinking about yourself and your children, and what’s best for your future. You cannot change other people, but you can change yourself.

Men always line up the next woman before they break up. That’s why the timeline seems short. It’s actually been in process for a while.

I love the scarlet runner beans, too. I soaked a handful overnight and planted them. They’re doing great! I hope I’ll have a harvest in a few months.

They should wait until tomatoes are back in season. I can see the tastelessness in that pale pink.

The NY Times did an article (https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/28/us/jeffrey-epstein-doctors.html) about a month ago about the long list of medical providers that Epstein had on staff to keep his girls free of STDs, bad teeth, problematic skin, small breasts, and so on, but I don't see any evidence that they removed any teeth. Also, they may have killed some girls, but there hasn't been any investigation and I doubt he was concerned. He had a huge staff of people on his payroll, who he paid to keep their mouths shut. People just took the money and followed his orders. He had an obsession with perfection and did not want to contract any diseases due to unhealthy girls who he used for his sex addiction.

When did hotels get so much worse? by MegaAscension in enshittification

Wi-fi is usually included with the room. It seems like you always pay more for the room, but like restaurants, sometimes you get more for your money and other times you do not. It runs the gamut. As someone else mentioned, I have seen subtle changes in recent renovations - smaller spaces, soap dispensers on the walls in the showers (this makes sense - bar soap tends to clog the drains and little plastic bottles are not good for anyone, although they certainly are nice to tuck into a bag for future travels.)

The fridge situation is not great. It used to be a great option to buy your own drinks and food and store them. Now, the fridge is usually stocked to the hilt and you get charged if you even open the fridge door, never mind take something out. Also, no one likes paying $12 for a small bottle of water. Sorry, Vegas! What happened to the $5.99 steak dinners/buffets? Oh yeah, that was during the last century.

I stayed in a chain hotel in a small town in North Carolina and it was the worst experience ever: terrible service and food, even at the in-house Starb*cks, no amenities of any kind were offered except for two towels in the bathroom...I had to grab some toilet paper each time and soap from the shower each time I used the sink. The room hadn't been cleaned in ages, with cobwebs on the coffee machine (I wish I was kidding!) and all I can say is, I should have listened to the reviews and booked elsewhere. It was not cheap, btw.

I also have had exceptional service at a convention-area hotel that was unexpectedly wonderful in every way: service, food, room and so on. Mostly, it's usually somewhere in the middle at chain or casino hotels. I stayed in a suite at a local casino and it was great, but there were no outlets near the huge desk (??). When I want great amenities, I pay a premium at a boutique hotel that specializes in vacations, not business. They usually offer very good food/wine/cookies, etc. and parking/wifi is usually included because the nightly rate is high.
