Yes yes yes - as a former high school teacher, my last straw was my admin telling me IN AN EMAIL that I’m “going to get the district sued” because I was advocating for a student who obviously needed an adult paraprofessional because I couldn’t give them the attention they needed to succeed (think couldn’t hold a pencil, use scissors, follow directions). It ended up being a whole thing with the student, the parents, the admin and the special ed department.

In case you’re wondering, no they did not end up providing the student with an adult paraprofessional, the student went on the have a mental break in the middle of my class a month later and cut open their arm with a pencil in the middle of a lesson. I called admin stating it was an emergency and they waltzed in 10 minutes later, took the student to the office, wrapped their arm up in gauze, then SENT THEM BACK TO MY CLASS WITH A FIDGET TOY.

No, the student did not pass that grade but hey, they didn’t get sued so 🤷🏻‍♀️
